#1148875 Assistants?

Yes, exactly.  SKC was a team that struggled to score and failed to beat Houston in the Eastern Conference Final for 2 years straight because of it.  BTW, do you have a list of how teams ranked in 2012 by that goals allowed per game metric or a link to it online?  Where did we rank on that?  Because we had a top 3 offense last year, and if we maintain that and have a top 3 defense this year, I think we get to the Eastern Conference championship game or even MLS Cup.

We actually need help on both fronts. Defense is the #1 issue, though part of that was related to our midfield IMHO. But our high scoring ranking is a bit of a deception as we score  a lot against the weaker teams, but had trouble cracking the better teams.

#1148830 2013 jersey?

I have a couple of the 1996 White/Black with Red/Yellow lettering.

I would gladly trade one for any of the following:

NASL Throwback used in 2001.

Hurricane Katrina Orange MetroStars jersey used in 2005.

1996 All Black Jersey <----THIS HAS BEEN MY UNICORN FOR 10 YEARS NOW!

2000-2002 Away Jersey (White with Black Center Stripe)

2006 New York Red Bulls Red Jersey (don't want to pay $600 for the Altidore one on ebay)

That would complete my set to include both throwback jerseys used by Metros, both the 06 MetroStars jerseys, the Katrina jersey and all other jerseys we wore in MLS games.

Do you have plans for the complete set if you assemble it? I have two katrina orange jerseys (Djorkaeff and Gaven) and would consider giving one if it were to go to some appropriate cause.

#1148726 Lineup under Petke

---- Espindola ------ Cooper

---------------- Henry

----- Juninho ------ Cahill

---------------- Dax

Pearce - Olave - Holgersson - Barklage

--------------- Meara

The 4-3-3 is what many seem to be leaning towards, but it requires one of those 3 to be willing to put on a defensive hat when we are off the ball. It doesn't have to be the same person, but we can't have all 3 playing forward for an entire game. I'm not convinced that having your 3 top strikers start every game is the right way to go. Some games, yes.

Nice to see Lade make the 23 man US roster, so he must be making progress as a back (would like to know which side Klinsman has been using him), which means we remain deep in the back, but still thin in midfield. Hopefully Christianson or one of the other trialists can be good enough to be a Dax back up, but we need more depth on the wings. We'll see what comes from preseason, but wonder if they are still searching abroad for more experience than our draftees likely offer.

If Lade has learned how not to get knocked off the ball, does he start at LB, moving Pearce into the middle and solving the Olave/Holgersson "both are better on the right" conundrum? If he is being used on the right then we have Barklage, Kimura and Conor fighting for one spot? Ouch.

It is not enough to offer a starting 11, we have to make sure that when some players are missing (resting, injury, call ups, cards) that we can plug in others and not lose our form. We need the bench to know their roles as well as the best 11. I'd like to see our main configuration be one that suits our entire squad and not just the perfect starting gang. That doesn't mean we can't alter based on particular opponents and special situations, but I hope we can get away from the Osorio/Backe habit of creative lineups almost every game.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

"Don't worry, we'll make a big signing in the summer, Lothar, er Reyna, er Henry will fix everything"

My thoughts exactly. It is like a distraction to make you forget that they just punched you in the gut.
