Robbie Rogers on the trading block?
This is a fascinating development. Our dreams of LD up top with Angel have been thwarted by a lack of a true left-sided midfielder. Rogers is a head case and may not fit well into the G's setup, but he vital for the Crew when the won the Cup under Sigi.

How about this for a lineup on August 3 against the Timbers?

-------------------Colonel/Ricketts--------------------

Heydude------------------------------------------Duni
-----------------Juni-----------Birch-------------------
Sean---------------------------------------------Rogers
-----------------LD--------------------------------------
------------------------------Angel----------------------

What would the G's have to give up to get Rogers?
Would it be worth the price?

Intriguing! :pint:

Not to mention he's a So Cal native...

I think Arena could whip Robbie into shape and intergrate him into the system.

However, the G's don't have much in the way of trading pieces that Columbus may want, but his salary (115k) isn't completely ridiculous so perhaps an allocation trade is possible...

SIDENOTE: I believe Robbie is Stopper's "pet peeve" player...

If you're not creepin', you're not trying...

I'd love to get him, and think it would be worth it just to see Stopper ranting about him each week.

Unloading the Salary and Bennies of our Euro royalty ought to be enough make room for him. Should be able to get allocation money from the deal. I think if the G's want to win the cup, Rogers on the left and LD with Angel up top might just do the trick. For all of Rogers deficiencies, he knows what it is like to win the Cup. That means a great deal in professional sports as guys like Ale Moreno and Bryan Mullan can attest.

I rated him 2-3 seasons ago, now not so much anymore.

Maybe BA and Co could fix the issues tough.

Wonder if the G's are any of the 4 MLS teams which supposedly enquired about him.

Listening to the It's called football podcast at CSN. They say "G's are actively in talks about a trade for DeRosario". (starts around 9 minutes 55 seconds)

DeRosario wants (more) DP money.
the G's already have 3 DP's, 2 have signed on multi year deals (Donovan for 4 in 2010, Angel at least for 2 in 2011).
Beckham's deal runs till the end of this year and he will be able to sign for any interested club on July 1st (starting January 1st, 2012)

Is this a backup plan if the whole Beckham thing turns worse?

DeRosario is a very good player, but a problematic character in the locker room at times.
He usually played attacking midfielder/second striker coming in from the left wing.

What would you give up in order to get him - if at all?

I would love to have Angel and DeRo together, if this was 3 years ago. Having two old DPs could be a problem.

Better than the pairing of two old DPs we have now.

from DuNord

There is a rumor is Sweden that the Galaxy are going to make a mid-summers trip to Europe and play against their sister club (AEG owned) Hammarby of Stockholm. We shall see. Thanks to the person who sent me that.

I would rather see Angel and Buddle together. I'm convinced they are different players and they would do well together. :pint:

*Could former Real Madrid star Guti be coming to the Galaxy or Chivas USA? He tweeted this weekend (translated by Google):

"Los angeles, new york to istanbul are my target for the year qque coming but still I have nothing decided in a month will decide all"

I would approve of this move.... even at his age he would be an upgrade at CM over Beckham...

Aging European footballers want to come to LA and NY in the same way that five year old boys want to be firemen or astronauts.
