Going to be tough to get to 18. Very impressive squad.

New additions to this year's squad but all either on the team last year or moving up from the academy: Lema, Tejera, Teixeira, BORGES, Asiedu, Martin, Gilbey.

My bad. Just trying to guess what positions these guys play, which ones are the outside backs, CMs, etc.

I remember being told that JS Sanchez was a good academy prospect who was a scorer. Haven't followed him since he's at Tulsa.

Deeds I remember from last yr, filling in with RB2 on the backline. Lotsa familiar names, but I guess we'll see what they're like, any chance their games will be streamed?

Lema of a few years ago would probably have been the one to watch, however this team is pretty loaded. Borges, Deeds, Tejera, Teixeira are also all potentially HGP caliber and there are a few guys that could compete regularly with the USL team.

Team did not qualify for USOC after a not-so-good 2016.

JS Sanchez played a dozen games (handful were starts) with NYRBII in 2015 and seemed to be a step off. Went to Tulsa and did not play with the USL team in 2016.

Two more players added today. Both new faces:

Collyns Laokandi - Defender with St. Francis from Paris, France.

Fabio De Sousa - Forward out of St. Benedict's Prep. Freshman at Rutgers Newark. Stan Lembryk is an assistant coach there - former Metro and long time academy coach. Kevin East is the head coach. East spent a few games as our bench goalkeeper way back in the day.

are they in USOC like last yr's PDL team?

Nope. They did not win their PDL division last year, which is needed to qualify. (As a purely amateur squad, they are not barred from the USOC like RB2 is, as they're professional).

IIRC, the U23's started slow and came on towards the end, missing their shot at qualifying for the PDL playoffs, nor the Open Cup.

Finished 6-4-4 on the season. Never really took off until the last two games of the year. The last two games were the only back-to-back wins all year. Won the last game 6-0.

Almost backed into a playoff spot but a team in a different division got in based on points.

At the USOC game at SJU last yr, they did score first, but they didn't hold the lead. Was told that it was the 1st wk they were together and just started practicing a few days prior.
