its still MLS and MLS owns his rights. They are very deferential to the owners, but they aren't letting him go for nothing, just like Adams.

I guess maybe my speculation is that he didnt sign with RBNY, but with RBL. RBL loans him to RBNY until he's 18. Not sure if MLS would have any control over that. There is just about no basis for this, but I wonder how you can guarantee a transfer to RBL in 2022 unless he is on their books somehow.

Reyna didnt wait until he turned 18 to go to Europe Caden does have to wait so he cant go that route its a big reason why he is here

Got it. And Gio could go before 18 because he was in England?

He is legally prohibited from signing with Leipzig. It cannot happen.

But he can sign a contract with NY and there can be a release clause in that contract for $1, for Leipzig only, that activates on his 18th birthday.

Because he has a Portuguese passport and is thus an EU citizen. Same reason (but with Croatia) that Pulisic could go to Dortmund at 16, but McKennie and Sargent (and Clark), who are only US citizens, had to wait until 18 to go to Germany.

OK. Thanks for clarity.

Amazing what an important signing it was when we got that new Academy director.

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

I think were putting too much hope in this kid.

If he is as good as we hope he will be, he will be gone next summer.

i dont see the point of worrying about that honestly.  Hopefully he comes and is really good and "worst case" he's so good we have to sell him for $5mm and $1mm of that becomes GAM.  If you cant find a starter for that money jokes on us.  Ideally they have a similar arrangement to Tyler and we get him until the season finishes.

I wonder if the kid can take free kicks for us going forward. We've been absolutely inept in that area since Felipe left to the point where I would prefer a corner over a free kick from good distance. Clark seems to have a pretty nice shot to improve this area.

I guess my complaint is about this system. Like if he is good enough to be great, we only get 2 half seasons? Regardless of the money, we dont spend, how is that a positive on the field.

Players should have to commit at least 3 seasons with the senior team before they can move on.
