This is a perfect example why I am going to throw a huge party when Mike Brown finally assumes room temperature. That and the 27 years of total failure and embarrassment he's caused me to have to sit through.

Both the memo & the contract clauses cited in your links indicate that a soccer team CAN play at the Bengals stadium!
The issue, as usual, appears to be money. The contract gives the NFL team all concessions revenue & a big chunk of the parking money. FC would not be happy with that, but would have an existing stadium to play in, without having to spend $200 Million on a new one.
Someone sensible needs to speak with all parties. However, in dealing with politicians & sports moguls, the egos often outsize the sensibilities.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Mike Brown ... 27 years of total failure.

I understand your rage, but here all he did was to seek and obtain very favorable terms for his franchise. The idiots are those who accepted these terms, and those who currently won't find what seem to be obvious simple solutions.

Amen! Growing up with the Bengals somehow makes being a Metro fan more tolerable (at least we can win some postseason games)... Aside from the 2005 season (before the Steelers thwarted our postseason "glory"), it's been rough. And don't get me started on the Reds...

Currently a USL franchise.

Still in the running for an MLS spot:

Does MLS want a fourth California franchise?

They definitely have the size and population to have a 4th team. If SoCal can have two teams why not NorCal. Seem to have a pretty good following.

Cincy have a great following. Will it transfer to a new stadium in a new league?

Good question. If they are able to win and make the playoffs with some regularity, they'll be able to keep fans interested, all the while paying more for tickets. Moreover, if they are able to continue to ingratiate themselves in the city in a positive way, they should be able to keep people coming to the games. But if you fail to do any of these things, you'll be seeing a stadium that is only half full.

FCC's current home is arguably the best stadium out there. (Well, aside from the fact that they don't own it)

I posted a link above quoting the PBS lease. How is it that all sides cannot agree that FCC use this existing stadium?

Where does Detroit propose to build its SSS, should it receive an MLS franchise?

But to be fair, the stadium was designed with soccer in mind. However, would MLS allow for a team to occupy a stadium that is owned not by the team but by a municipality (in this case, Hamilton County) and is shared with an NFL team with an overlapping schedule? It would be no different than the current situation at Nippert, where they share the stadium with the University of Cincinnati's football team.
