NMR

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Mark Anthony Kaye of LAFC now accusing Orlando City players of caring more about getting 3 points from their win against Nashville last night than the BLM movement.

However, it looks like (per Nashville player/coach statements) that they shut their phones off before kickoff to focus on playing, and therefore were not aware of the other games being postponed. So they took the field.

Also Steven Goff says not everyone was on board with not playing last night:

Total disarray in MLS...

Not really. The teams that Goff was referring to may have been Orlando & Nashville and I understand it was a difficult call to make for them to make, especially with fans in the seats. Everything else Ive read seems like the players and teams and the league were in solidarity.

"In the realm of the sports universe and what has transpired in the past 24 hours, it is a small announcement. Yet, it speaks volumes on what is happening in Major League Soccer.

The Red Bulls Thursday morning called off a Zoom media press conference with head coach Chris Armas goalkeeper Ryan Meara and forward Tom Barlow. It was scheduled to commence at 8:45 a.m. ET.

A team spokesman said it was decided to put off the presser out of respect and solidarity with the games across our league and others not being played.

On Wednesday night, five MLS games were postponed due to the players decision to take a stand on the Jacob Blake shooting and racism.

A spokesman said the press briefing rescheduled availability will be announced later Thursday or Friday morning.

MLS teams rarely call off media availability.

Every MLS team has used the internet to hold pre- and post-match press conference since the return to play.

The Red Bulls are to play the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Saturday night."

If it was Orlando and Nashville, why didn't Goff just state the obvious?

He knows more than both of us here.

Fair enough, but whatever teams didn't want to postpone games are doing a good job of hiding it - the messaging from the league, teams, and players has been pretty universal in support of not playing.  Having a difference of opinion on whether games should go or not is NOT disarray, it's discourse.  I understand that doesn't fit your narrative, though.

Examples of the "disarray" within MLS over not playing last night:

Sounds like the NBA will be back either tomorrow or this weekend...I would imagine MLS follows suit since the other leagues seem to more or less follow the lead of the NBA

Not really the point. I dont think any of the players were saying he shouldnt have been arrested or that hes Dad of the Year, just that he deserved due process and not to get shot in the back 7 times.

The message appears universal because I'm sure MLS is suppressing the voices of anyone who thinks otherwise, since those wouldn't fit into their social justice narrative. Or these players aren't speaking up out of concern of being criticized by their some of their peers who have adopted a 'my way or the highway' approach in terms of thought.

I think a player like Kaye accusing other players of thinking a certain way (when in reality Kaye probably never spoke to them) is disarray.
