Just caught up to the game and this thread and am so thoroughly confused as to why the conversation is about Buckmaster and the Omir sub when we had a billion super high quality scoring chances from inside the 18 yard box and only posted one. The finishing was hot garbage, Royer alone had TEN (!!!) shots and scored zero even if he did come close several times.
If this game ends 5-1 like it should have, are we still honestly complaining?
I missed this one, so I can't comment specifically, but xG was 2.89-0.55 in our favor. That's a huge margin for a draw.
Lol the call to sign a replacement outside back is so revisionist when Murillo was All star in 2018 and we had a legit backup who would be working way back from injury and looked very good preinjury. Yes everyone knows path back from injury is variable - for every Valot who looked great you have someone who looks not as good or takes 1-1.5 years to come back if ever
I swear that half of this board wants us to spend 75% of our salary budget on fullbacks.
I don't think they are better attacking team then the last year's Atlanta. Speaking of special, it all depends on what you mean by special and how it compares to mine. For example, this year's All Star MLS team was pretty strong top to bottom, and still was demolished by Athletic Madrid 3:0. Athletic was a special team, imo. Red Bulls created obvious problems to LAFC's organization of attack in the first half, demonstrating some of their deficiency in passing from the back and in the middle. Therefore for me NYRB made obvious that LAFC was not as special as I would think judging from the statistics.
Using an All-Star Game to compare teams and referring to "Athletic" Madrid. Come on, do better.
We should be competitive. Start BWP and turn the press up to 11.
Cmon we play Liga MX teams in champions league and are defending supporters shield champions. Were down this year, but were not intimidated by anyone in this region. Im confident it will be a good game at least.
LA is unbeaten (9 wins, 1 draw) with a +20 goal difference at home.
We have 3 wins from 11 away games with a -4 goal difference, and we're flying across the country for this.
I hope we can keep it interesting, but I'm not super optimistic about it.
End game is to keep him here unless someone overpays for him.
Its RBs right as they just signed him to a new, big contract.
I think it sends a great message to US soccer players.......if the Premiership comes knocking, the opportunity youve been working hard for your entire life, fuck you.
If Im Tolkins Dad and see this...., I use the academy for all its worth. If my son keeps maturing and playing great.....when RB offers a 1st team contract in a couple of years.....FUCK NO. Ill sign my kid directly to Europe. If I sign with RB, my kids only path to Europe is with a RB team only.
Everyone has choices to make. So many young players are passing up 1st team contracts and going directly to Europe. This is one reason why.
1) You're looking at this through an extremely narrow lens, ignoring all of the players that we've sold before.
2) Long doesn't qualify for a work permit and won't get one on appeal, so getting this worked up about a rejected move to the Premier League is a waste of your time.
"West Ham want to sign New York Red Bulls and USA centre back Aaron Long but cant complete a deal because he can't get a work permit at the moment. Long has £4m release clause and wants to play in the Premier League"
The thing that sucks about the red for me is that I can't distinguish us when we play teams also wearing dark shirts (color blind). Games against Portland are completely unwatchable, and like 40% of the other teams are a struggle.
So long as we pair the red top with white shorts against a solid dark opponent, it's ok, but otherwise, I not-so-secretly hate the red.
If we're being honest with ourselves, our last 3 wins have been really fortunate. This one, an odd goal to beat City, and the 3-1 over Chicago where we got dominated for most of the match and conceded 22 shots inside the box.
Good result, happy to get 3, but we've been complete shit for like 2 months.
