Posted by Indyanapolis on Today, 05:42 PM

West Ham put in a 30 million pound bid for a striker today. Quit playing poor and submit a real offer.

#1359491 Kemar Lawrence wants out

Posted by Indyanapolis on 19 January 2020 - 07:59 PM

I honestly think that losing Kemar takes us from a team fighting for one of the last playoff spots to a team with next to no chance of making the playoffs.

Long and Parker are great, but Kemar shuts down so many counterattacks, and better than anybody else in the league. I dont think it's crazy to say we might concede 5-10 more goals over the course of the season.

How does this make it easier for fans?

It doesn't, it makes it so Ticketmaster can collect more emails. Sucks, but that's how TM operates.

#1358912 Red Bull opts out of MLS retro gear merchandise launch

Posted by Indyanapolis on 09 January 2020 - 11:45 PM

Team sources tell me that #RBNY will have 2020 merch that pays homage to the team’s history. In addition, sources tell me that the team will be taking a more active role in branded merch design moving forward. - Mark Fishkin

Well we already know the jersey is black with the 3 red stripes. The STH cap has a flag with quadrants from the Metrostars crest. I'm thinking this means we'll just more red/black themed stuff. But like Metrofanatic^ said, it will probably all have the Red Bull logo.

All this means is that they'll ask the branding people who write up what everything symbolizes to say that the Adidas stripes are a homage to Metro.  There you go, that's probably it.

What does the Allocation Order have to do with a Colombian national?

Anyone who leaves the league for a transfer fee greater than 500k is also subject to that Byzantine process.

#1358307 First offseason rumor: Insaurralde

Posted by Indyanapolis on 27 December 2019 - 10:25 PM

Based on what? You looked at his international caps and games played and decided that's enough information? Like, what the fuck is that?

What is Jorgensen's resume, exactly? Numerous youth caps and a few spells for a decent senior team? Do you know how many players around the world, past and present, that more or less describes? Some of them grew into starters for Champions League clubs and some of them wouldn't start for a USL club. Kevin de Bruyne was also a 19-year-old who had some youth caps and a only a few games for Genk. Would he have been a bad signing? Please give me specifics on how and why Insaurralde's resume is closer to Jorgensen's than it is de Bruyne's.

At age 19, de Bruyne was a starter for the best team in Belgium and playing in Europa league qualifiers. He also had racked up over 50 professional appearances, a handful of youth national team appearances, and earned his first Belgium callup.

Prior to his move, Jorgenson had 16 professional appearances, most of them as a substitute for a good team in Denmark.

Insaurralde got 8 appearances for a team than finished 1 point above dead last in Argentina last season. This year, now that the team had improved to mid-table, he can't even make the bench.

Wow, I literally can't tell if Insaurralde's resume is more like Jorgenson or de Bruyne.

You're being wilfully obtuse, nobody is writing this off as a bad singing in a vacuum, we're saying that the first team needs more. If you seriously think that someone who can't make the bench for his team is going to solve our problems, I dont know what to tell you.

The pessimism is based on the fact that unless we're bucking a major trend of our FO, this is our one million+ transfer of the window.

in this day of age it hard to get a clear cut impact guy for less than 5 mil.  as long as this is not the majority of the transfer kitty this is an okay to good signing.  But i have no clue what our budget is.  basically is like the casseres signing one year later in development.

True, my post was operating on the (hopefully wrong) assumption that this is the "big" signing of the offseason i.e. Jorgenson.

At this point I'll take anything, but:

  • Hasn't appeared for the Argentina U20s since March
  • Had 29 minutes for San Lorenzo in the first match of the season and hasn't made the 18 since

Seems like a potentially high cost, little reward move.

Just saying that if we're going to drop a 1.5M transfer, let's drop it on someone who is actually contributing to their team

Quotes from Taxi:

Is this club gonna figure out how to work with him after he turns 30?... I get the Red Bulls are always trying to make a decision that’s best for them, but when do you look on my side and be like what’s best for Kemar? They won’t, so I have to look out for me.

The way things are lining up this year, it doesn’t seem like we’re in the mindset to run for a championship. It seems like we’re going back into a rebuilding structure, you get me? … I’m just not into all that, to be honest.

It always feels like we don’t want to pay somebody to keep them or get the right persons. Always trying to save some money or do something the cheaper way instead of investing in somebody and watching it turn over, you get me?
