Muyl is the most inept in-the-box player in team history. You have anyone except him take it.

This... I don't know how anyone can watch Muyl and not think the same thing. And that's coming from someone who likes the player.  He has his positives as a player but composure and finishing simple chances are his worst traits.

Muyl missing that PK is what made me think we'd lose.  He shouldn't have taken that.  Was a first guess.  He's not composed e ought for them and there's no reason to think a guy that blows so many opportunities during games should be taking a PK ever.  I don't hate him for it because I fully expected it.

Lade has cost us over and over again...

Defensively we have not been good enough.  We need better depth.

The aforementioned restaurant at 1100 Frank E Rodgers Blvd S, Harrison, NJ 07029 is a Portuguese Restaurant named Joia by SolMar. It is owned by the same owners as SolMar Restaurant on Ferry St.  Great place for pre and post games.  The staff wear Red Bull's shirts and they speak English and Portuguese.  They have typical Portuguese cuisine. It is 2 blocks from Gate A.

Just noticed this place before the RSL game.   Definitely looked good

Was great to see Marsch there.  He's the best coach we've had since I've been a fan of this team so him being around is always good.

That said, we didn't look good at all for a bunch of games under Armas to begin with but he deserves credit because we look like ourselves now more often than not lately.

Guys are starting to look like the best versions of themselves and that is the true measure of a coach.

It's amazing how many games we won with some of those lineups that Marsch had to trot out there.  We played so many games with a joke back line.   Then over the course of a few years he's able to build a good roster.... And now we can't win.  Some people point to Tyler but those are probably the same people who thought losing Dax would be cripping, or Lloyd, or Sacha.  The coaching and the system is what made this team win.   The roster was never actually good until last year and this year. Before that it was squeezing water from a rock.

A couple of our better players in Murillo and Kaku are turning into locker room cancers where that stuff never happened under Marsch. Now we see guys used and look good, but then they are stapled to the bench for whatever reason like Duncan, Jorgensen, Casseres, and Ivan.

We play moneyball.  The only way to make that work is to have good coaching and we don't have good coaching.  So yeah, we have two problems.  Not spending big money on the roster and a coach who's not getting the most out of his players.

We'd be fine with Taxi playing that LCB spot in my opinion.  We only struggled back then because we didn't have 2 other great centerbacks.

I just hope we don't lose any games soon because I'm scared that Armas will spin the wheel of formations after a loss.

Some bars right outside the stadium would help too IMO. Would love to have the option to get to the game early, get some food/drinks, watch some other games, ect. Or to hangout after the game until traffic dies down. Right now, it feels like most everyone gets to the game right at kickoff, and then leaves as soon as the games ends (or even before). Hopefully this could happen with all the new buildings being constructed.

Agree... This is huge.  Adds to the experience.

Let's be honest... Henry coming here makes no sense going by how Red Bull has been doing things.  He's not a system guy and this has been all about the system since Rangnick has been in charge.

I'd be absolutely shocked if there's any legitimacy to it at all.

Omir earned a start, Murillo earned himself a game off.

No more Bezecourt please for awhile, I'm honestly not convinced the guy is really MLS level.

Have no clue why Bezecourt finds himself on the field.

Also Murillo has earned a game off several games in a row now.  At least the huge chance he gave up last game didn't turn into a goal.

I just find very little reason to be excited nowadays.... Team went from a great coach who basically could squeeze water from a rock (despite the talent not being great) to a coach who doesn't seem to be able to get anyone to play their best.

#1344512 Thierry Henry linked to RB coaching role

Posted by Komba on 17 April 2019 - 09:20 AM

Don't see this being realistic.

I love Henry, but a lot of the great players in sports history have not translated well to coaching.

Plus, the biggest reason is that this whole red bull thing is built off the system, and I don't see Henry coming in to be a student of the system.

I don't get focusing on outside back... At all.   It's also not good cap management to pay a backup significant money when you have a guy like Taxi making big money.  Plus two other CB's on the back line.

You aren't going to do much better than Murillo and Duncan at RB.  I don't think there are any other RB tandems I'd take in the league and I'm not even a big fan of Murillo defensively.

If the issue is that you think MLS has passed Lade by, then fine.  Maybe that's the case but having Lade as a backup LB isn't the worst thing in the world.

The team has far bigger issues and LB isn't one.  BWP is a huge issue.  Kaku is a huge issue. And Armas is a huge issue.

#1344320 Kaku benched, his feelings hurt

Once he made it clear that he wanted out, we should have sold him.  Otherwise you get this...he at least played hard but he acting childish constantly.

I'd be on board with a switch back to that.

Was a fan of that formation and now we really have the horses to do better with it.

-------------BWP------

----Royer-Kaku-Muyl

Duncan---CCJ----Murillo

-----Taxi---Long--Parker

Puts Royer in a better spot, doesn't put as much defensive pressure on Murillo which is a good thing because he doesn't seem particularly interested in defense sometimes.  Can rotate between CCJ, Rza, and Davis for that middle spot.   Kaku has more freedom to roam.

Hard to have an opinion on players when so many guys look bad.

Good speed, works hard, seems pretty athletic.  Not quite ready for prime time though.

Overall I see a number 9 similar to BWP.  Focused on goal, not great vision with the ball but then again, most kids don't have great vision yet.

What?

The window as in for this team to go all the way. BWP, Robles and the defense probably aren't going to be around much longer.

There is something to be said about that window but really, it only applies to BWP.

The defense (the important 3 pieces anyway) should be in their prime for a few more years.

The window with BWP is very likely closing after this season.  You have to figure that's why they brought in the kid.

As for coach, I don't like the things I've seen from Armas at all but they have to give him until the summer.  Outside of the team losing every game anyway.
