Interesting interview Jesse gave to TSN. Gave Armas a glowing endorsement, hmm.

Not like he was ever gonna say anything but good things about him.

Listen to the ENTIRE interview. It's approx 10 minutes. Plenty of stuff to "talk about".

i do think there is a chance Armas may be better implementing a non pressing system, because he seemed to be focused with us on redefining what we did with the ball.  But we didnt have the horses for that approach.  But more likely this hire benefits us in the standings lol

I get the love for the guy from front office, media, players and peers, and I do hope he suceeds.
That said, they did a couple of 'all access' segments showing his halftime speeches. That guy couldn't motivate an elephant to eat a peanut.

Curtis justified the hire partially by saying they'd spend more for Armas than NY did. That's all well and fine, Armas was dealt a bad hand here, but he still played it like shit.

He could always get better. This was his first head coaching job.

Regardless of whether Red Bull opened up the pocketbook, name a player who improved under Armas.

I wish him luck -  a likable local guy. I never quite understood his soccer strategy, beyond knowing a plan b was needed, but that could be because I am not a soccer savant. I cant think of one player who improved under Armas, though. Now that could be an effect of not being that dominating team they were under Marsch (which can attributed to a reduction in player quality) and that creating a losing malaise, but that's irrelevant.

I would suspect he does better at TFC than NY , though. He was dealt a shitty deck here. TFC has some veterans who will support his authority, assuming Armas treats them well (and hopefully the Lawrence situation has taught him how to do that).

:pint:cheers. Wish him good luck with TFC. On the other hand hope his new team doesn't deny us the chance for Open cup win & or MLS cup  win in '21.

TFC won't play us in USOC, so there's that.

That's funny.

needed a couple days to think about this.  only player you can argue improved is Sean Nealis.  He looked much improved in his spot starts compared to when he first got on the scene.

“Before any X’s and O’s and what we want to do with the ball and against the ball, it’s important to know how I just see the game: and it’s with energy,” said Armas. “It becomes a way of working. It’s a way of playing. It’s a way of living.”

Man the guy at least knows how to sell himself but did Ali watch any of his games in NY? The Red Bulls looked far more lethargic in every game under Armas than they ever did under Marsch or even Carnell.
