Wow! Great entertainment. Good guys  win, evil guys lose. The game was the type of game you would expect to see in  a Hollywood script. As usual in a tight game, getting the calls helped a lot. But that blindside tackle showed how dangerous that sport is.

Good guys win

There were no good guys.
Philly sucks!
Boston sucks!
There goes our Jets taunt at Chester.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I was speaking relatively, Should have used quotes for "good", "bad". But no doubt I like Philly over Boston in any sport. Game had a lot of similarities to "Rocky".

As for the taunt, I thought it was weak because the "Super Bowl" was just a renaming of the "NFL Championship Game" as of the 1967 season. And  Philly had won the NFL in 1960, just a few years before the renaming. Of course if you didn't follow the NFL in 1960, but started following after the Super Bowl renaming, you might not know pre-SB history.

The 1960 Philly team was known for this hit on Frank Gifford (MVP of Giants NFL Champs 1956) by Chuck Bednarik. A tackle eerily similar to the one yesterday in the SB.

Actually, the first game was not the NFL championship game. It was the AFL-NFL championship game, because the two leagues did not actually merge until 1970.
The name Super Bowl was created by Lamar Hunt, better known to soccer fans as the namesake of the USOC championship trophy.

The business merger was agreed to in June 1966. Over a period of 4 years the operational merger would take place. The NFL and AFL were now "leagues" in name only.

In 1967, the first significant steps of the operational merger were taken. A championship game would be played at the end of each season between the two "leagues". And also, the two "leagues" would  have a common draft. In the past, they each had their own draft, and fought to sign the players that were picked in both drafts.

My guess is that they wanted to wait until 1970 to formally announce the merger because they felt it would take 4 years of a common draft, for the public to accept the AFL teams on a par with the NFL teams. As it turned out, Joe Namath and the Jets established that parity on the gridiron.

1967 NFL/AFL Draft. The 1967 National Football League draft was conducted March 14–15, 1967, at the Gotham Hotel in New York City. It was the first common draft with the AFL, part of the AFL–NFL merger agreement of June 1966.

Philly fans bring- a special type of toxic, obnoxious hatefulness, but Boston sports fans are insufferable. I know many, and their social media sour grapes this week are like fine wine to me. Great time to bring up what a bunch of cheaters the pats are, and laugh at the ensuing freakout.

That's funny you should say that.   Lately when I get asked about how I think a big NFL game is going to go, my first reaction is 'whatever the script says.'

I get irritated living in CT that they presume to call themselves New England, and assume that CT is their territory.  In Southern CT there were no Patriots fans and only a handful of Sox fans (mostly Yankee haters, TBH.)  I live 10 minutes from the MA border now, and Pats fans are still not a majority.   And no one gives a shit about the Revs.  I've seen more boy city crap than Revs in 10 years up here.

I still can't get a good explanation of why Goodell destroyed the spygate tapes, while giving the Pats the maximum fine.  I don't even think its tinfoil hat territory to assume there was some evidence of game fixing/scripting there that couldn't see the light of day.  (OK, maybe moderate tinfoil, but show me a Pats victory where they didn't get a timely call from the refs and/or the opposing coach made a decision that goes against every rule of basic football coaching.  And I know they lost this game, but they kept it close, etc.  They can't win them all and maintain plausible deniability.)

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.
