Because if Angel is not playing then I guess it means he is on his way out. I would hope not but if we can get a lot for the guy then it might be worth it to let him go.

Does any one know when lineups will be posted?

Why do you say that? Isn't the Freddie to Chicago trade done? Doesn't that mean there is no more thinking we might lose Angel this season?
I've only been partially reading the news over the last 2 days so I don't know all the details of what is going on.
Soccer is a game about a group of people working together to protect and obtain a common goal.
Baseball is a game with a bunch of babies just trying to run "home" and be "safe"

RNNY: League source says that proposed trade was Ljungberg for JPA.
So yea never mind. The proposed swap was JPA for Freddie plus who/whatever but that didn't happen. So never mind, I expect Angel to be starting today and stick around for at least a little while longer.

I'm just happy the trade never materialized, but it's still very disheartening to know that Hans, Erik, & the RBFO was willing to go thru with something like that.
You are assuming that the FO and management were doing this all without JPA's consent.
Then again I am assuming that our FO is being upfront with JPA and their desire to use next years DP slot on someone else. Maybe they went into negotiations with JPA in total agreement to move forward.

Which is reasonable to assume all things considered (he loves NY, has a family, much-improved team on the field, the arrival of Henry, the imminent arrival of Marquez, etc.). Why would he want to leave NY now?You are assuming that the FO and management were doing this all without JPA's consent.

That may all be 100% true. But when you are getting paid close to 2 mil a year and your current FO tells you we won't renew you as a DP but maybe at 2-300k, those things may all go right out the window.

BUT, JPA does wanna finnish his career in River doesn't he? If that happens it would be ok, depending on the money we get, we could get some quality player with it.

How do you guys propose we have 3DPs next year when that would take up 1 mil of the 2.6 mil cap? And still field a competitive team on multiple fronts (MLS, CCL, USOC) since most of you think we are MLS cup champion caliber team this year?
It comes down to RBNY needing to bring some talent and excitement to this team to help fill the stadium. That's probably the main reason to go after 3 DPs.
Also remember that with allocation money they can be paid down somewhat. On top of that with the new CBA we looking at about a 125k increase a year for the next few years which should help us to keep using 3 DPs.
