That is an oversimplification, Struber pressed harder than any Red Bull coach and that system was a nightmare for strikers. Struber and Klimala themselves were on record several times that the way they played made it difficult for strikers to score.
20+ goals obviously isn't impossible but I think it'll continue to be an anomaly in MLS. You need a generational talent on an elite team that prioritizes setting up their forward for tap-ins. I'm higher on Vanzeir than most, but he's not a generational talent. We're better this year than last, but we're not elite (yet). Schwarz finally has us playing with the ball again, but we're still not creating a high volume of simple chances. I don't think a 20+ goal season is in the cards for our strikers even if the season overall ends up going well.
Marsch implemented a very direct pressing system similar to Struber's, which proved successful. The pressing system creates easier scoring opportunities, but it requires players who can shoot accurately and convert those chances.
It wasn't Struber or lesesne system that caused a scoring issue. it is a talent issue. we currently lack forwards who are efficient shooters.
Since BWP's last season, all our forwards, except White, have struggled with their accuracy and scoring efficiency.
