Rugby league would probably be better on the grass than the traditional rugby union.  In rugby league, there really is no scrum, which really tears up the grass.  Rugby league also has a limit on possession (6 tackles I believe), which encourages scoring and more back and forth action.

RL has its pockets of popularity, but Union is more widespread and there's way more money and eyes on it (6 Nations, whatever the Southern Hemipheric Championship is called nowadays)

Is the money really in it for Red Bull to have a rugby team as a tenant in this stadium? I don't see it.

Red Bull does not own the stadium any more.  The Hudson County Improvement Authority does.

My guess is that a rugby team would draw about as well as RBNY II. Good luck with that.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

The place sells out quickly whenever we've had rugby here before.    This will not be a regular league schedule, only occasional "event" games.

The BBC article is talking about a regular league team as in Toronto.  IIRC they would alternate playing two weeks home and two weeks away.

Has RBA hosted any RL games before?  There's a world of difference between a RU test match against one of the top national teams (with a large local expat population) and club level RL.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

If this was Leeds or some part of Australia, there'd be more people than what I'm expecting.
