We got $500k for Brian White, $100k more than we received for Dax McCarty.

The trade wasn't bad.

The inability of a horrendous front office to use that money wisely was the problem.

Yes, giving away good players for nothing or some funny money was never a problem. It's getting good players that is. Well, at least for Thelwell it was. Let's see if Schnider is better.

Hiring a coach was his job. All credit and blame for Struber goes to Thelwell. In this case a lot more later than former. I just can't absolve him from this. Just because RB is Austrian company and Struber is Austrian coach doesn't mean he was forced to hire someone he didn't want. Unless there is a proof otherwise in this specific case, GM is responsible for hiring the coach.

If the owner of your company tells you do something most employees do it.

Do you have any proof of this? Otherwise we can speculate every bad move any GM has ever done was because owner said to do it, hence absolving any GM of any responsibility. Hiring a coach is a GM responsibility. Baring a proof his owner made him do it, Struber (and White) is on Thelwell.

When did Dietrich ever personally get involved in NYRB business except for the hiring of Struber? He personally got involved in Strubers buyout. Dietrich definitely wanted Struber here. Thelwell maybe did too, I dont know. But it didnt matter bc the owner wanted Struber.

There is no smoking gun here but our club's ownership may make us a unique case. Ali Curtis was technically GM when Petke was fired and Marsch was hired, but we know Ralf Rangnick was very heavily involved in that process so it's possible a new GM on the ground in NY doesn't weild the same power as a GM may in other major American sports

Personally don't give a shit about Brian White. We need better players than him, period. The problem is ownership won't bring them in or when they bring in supposedly "good" players they either bust like Klimala or they look like they are gonna be busts like Dante.

MC's last post convinced me Dietrich wanted Struber. Not a proof per say, but as close as it gets. Still Thelwell sucked.

Scored only goal for Vancouver over two playoff games.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.
