Why is Kaku's cap hit going to double?

He turns 24 in January, so he'll no longer be a Young DP.

Edit: Actually, I guess that he won't, based on this language. He'll still be 23 for a portion of the "league year".

"Young Designated Player
A Designated Player who is 23 years old (or younger than the age of 23) during the League Year (the age of the player is determined by year - not date - of birth) will carry the following Young Designated Player Salary Budget Charge:

Ages 20 and younger: $150,000
Ages 21-23: $200,000"

I like this move, but let's not compare the guy to a former MLS Defender of the Year, unless you're strictly talking style-wise.

Let's not get crazy over the signing of this prospect. He was behind Redding on Orlando depth chart last year, wasn't full time starter this year on the worse defensive team in MLS. The guy as of now is a scrub with some potential who is yet to prove he is better than someone like Ndam.

Umm...he and Redding were never on the same team. And I'd say that by looking like the one Orlando defender who didn't suck he has proved more than Ndam did.

I don't think he's going to win defender of the year, but a cheap CB with MLS experience, who can also play LB is a godsend for this team. (And one who doesn't take up an international slot, to boot.)

What airline / how bad was the price if you don't mind me asking? I've been looking at flights and the prices are ridiculous so I'm driving at the moment. It being Thanksgiving weekend sucks for finding a deal.

Mine was $100 to fly to Savannah (American) on Saturday and a $150 return flight from Atlanta (Delta) on Monday.

Team overall played very well. I think Armas is less stubborn than Marsch. The RB system has largely been play straight through the middle, Jesse at one point even gave a presentation where he showed how RB teams created goals attacking straight down the middle, but Armas recognized that we needed to attack down the flanks to win.

Whole team was good. People will say BWP was invisible but he still did the little things to keep the D honest and create chances. Just by capturing the D's attention he played a big role.

Midfield won the game. I think that was Adam's best game ever. Muyl was also huge, arguably his best game (even if you don't count the goal credited to him). Davis and Royer also had great games. Kaku seemed to get less touches but he didn't do anything wrong, might just be that CBus was paying more attention to him since our offense usually flows through him. Kemar also looked sharp. Robles wasn't asked to do much, but had 1 excellent save iirc. Not much to complain about. Hope it carries over to Atlanta.

I thought that BWP was great. He held the ball well, distributed, showed great positional awareness, and his usual clever runs dragged dedenders out of position, even though he didn't get any chances at goal. He was involved in Royer's first goal through good hold up play, a quick turn, and pass to Muyl. Royer's second would not have happened if BWP hadn't peeled off to the left, opening up space for Royer to dribble centrally and keeping Sauro from closing down the dribbler for just a split second longer than he would have otherwise.

I'd rather him get chances to score, of course, but it was clear that Columbus was totally keyed in on BWP and Kaku, conceding the wings in the process. Fortunately, the outside backs and wingers took advantage.

I actually ended up watching philly feed on abc8 or something, and they did a good job, except for few parts where they rooting for the worms..

Tommy not understanding the VAR rule was pretty embarrassing though.

To be fair, Barklage scored two highlight reel goals: https://youtu.be/i1yiOxeHE08

Pulling for Murillo and Escobar, but I can't see this going well.

Lazy, gutless effort by Robles there on the goal.

There was nothing he could have done. That one is all on Long.

Also, having Ndam play with the first team in MLS means thst another international would have to be loaned to II. I'm not sure who that would be at this point.

Collin, who now has a green card, is valuable as a 3rd or 4th CB.

Great call, I was way off. Im really surprised they dont have Atlanta and Orlando in the same region.

Please please PLEASE let us draw DC

Putting Orlando in the East allows the USL teams to stay closer to home.

I'll take anyone but Philly.

Panama's last group stage match is the 28th, so Murillo and Escobar aren't going to be back until the beginning of July, at earliest. Assuming that they don't make it out of the group stage, the NYC away match is the most likely date for their return.

Ndam has the one on one defensive skills and his positioning has gotten better, but he scares the hell out of me every time he has the ball at his feet. He definitely still needs time before he's ready to play a role with the first team. But what can you really ask for from your 5th CB?

It's definitely part of the counterpressing strategy. The idea is to quickly play the ball upfield, which either creates an opportunity or immediately allows the team to high press. Now, whether they should continue to play that way against bunkering teams is another question.

Not having Murillo on the right was a much bigger loss than I expected. Lade just doesn't provide anywhere near the offensive threat. Duncan did, which makes his injury all the more unfortunate.

Interesting to note that it was reported that all the other MLS clubs turned down callups for their American players. (Aside from Columbus, of course.)
