#1405137 Metro - Revs Game Thread

This team is one of the best in the league defensively. Unfortunately, one of the worst in the league in the final third as well. Going to be a weird season. Stole a victory today... a rare feat for this team.

Thinking about it more...

Tolkin has now faced off against touted young players Cade Cowell and Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty in back to back games. He's passed both tests with flying colors.

I feel he continues to be under appreciated both by this fanbase as well as around the league.

Morgan, Morgan, Morgan!

First time a first half hat trick since the Mathis five goal game?

It seems like they have legitimately overhauled the roster.

The Amaya trade/signing was a real wake up call for me. That's a real talent to add intraleague and not something this franchise has done a lot of in recent years.

It has been years since this franchise has invested in attacking weapons  and they did so with volume. I guess you can claim they tried with Jorgensen, but that seemed to be a speculative favor to the European owners than actually trying to improve this squad.

Klimala, The Brazilan, Harper, and Amaya. Those are all players expected to add to the attack.

Nevermind Edwards and Reyes who we haven't seen yet.

It may take some time to gel, but this team is better than the one we saw in 2020.

The RBA gameday experience was never the same after El Pastor shut down. So many fun nights there... even used to karaoke there on random weeknights.

For those that remember, all hail Cristiane! Unidade!!

#1381497 This offseason is not a shitshow

Posted by JayDelight729 on 10 April 2021 - 12:47 PM

Candidly this has been one of the best offseasons in team history.

Adds: Coronel, Gutman, Reyes, Edwards, Diarra, Amaya, Harper, Fabio... Assuming the Klimaka deal happens (I hear it will), that's nine new players into the fold and all nine should play at least fairly regularly.

That's a major talent overhaul and the team remains young. Amaya is the real surprise and could really turn into something for us.

#1359425 Sam Cosgrove (and Lawrence Shankland)

Cosgrove is an intriguing possibility. I love the idea of a big burly forward in the Altidore mode who can score in a variety of ways.

I also like the fact that he has had scoring success at multiple teams bodes well for success here. I'd like this move.

The lack of ambition by ownership is the biggest issue. It's tough as a long time supporter of this team to watch it become a team of have nots.

#1352735 Why can't we just buy a team like LAFC & Atlanta?!

Posted by JayDelight729 on 26 August 2019 - 09:21 AM

So, I'm fine with the academy & philosophy, I just think they need an owner who is actually invested in our success enough to spend the money here for us to win. Except we don't have that. And it doesn't look like we'll be getting it any time soon.

It's great that we are getting the first two, but the team is alarmingly short on the expenditures. In a haves and have nots league, we are fast becoming a have not.

#1350879 Young premier league winger = Josh Sims

Posted by JayDelight729 on 06 August 2019 - 02:08 PM

Lots of tweets now claiming it is in fact Josh Sims. Intriguing signing. Primarily plays on the right but can also play on the left.

I'm lukewarm on it. Don't hate it, don't love it.

Better than the options we were discussing yesterday.

Our continuity is as high as any other team in the league and its masking that the level of talent (especially in the attacking third) is not at a level good enough to win MLS Cup.

Look around the league at the attacking talent on each team and then compare it to what we have. I don't see it changing sadly.

This league has quickly moved into a have and have nots... Red Bull New York is a have not.

Oh, agree completely.  That's clearly an issue.

Jorgensen is a pup and he shows some really good things so I'm still optimistic about him.  Ivan did look good early season but never got consistent minutes so who knows if that hurt him worse.

We need a 6.  And we need to stop playing Rza as a 6.  I actually like Rza but my preference would be him playing farther up the field where he can create more defensively.

If you are paying $2 million for a player in MLS, he better be a key player from the onset.

#1349942 Room for improvement on our roster

Posted by JayDelight729 on 25 July 2019 - 09:08 AM

Come on, 2 weeks was never a hard and fast deadline. The window closes in 2 weeks from today.

Not even a whisper of a move. Have to be frustrated as a fan with the lack of investment in on field talent. The team is good enough to compete in the playoffs.

#1349239 EPL Interest in Aaron Long

Posted by JayDelight729 on 15 July 2019 - 11:15 AM

Adams was irreplaceable at any kind of realistic budget number.

Correct. Adams is the best player ever produced by our academy. There was no replacement possible that wasn't going to involve a major DP signing.

#1349236 How is Kemar Lawrence Still in MLS?

Posted by JayDelight729 on 15 July 2019 - 11:07 AM

He's one of the best outside backs to ever play in MLS. It's stunning he hasn't moved yet. We're very lucky to have him.
