Do you think if we would have taken Dilly he would not have gotten traded to Toronto for DeRo?
And then ended up in Columbus anyways?
A toss up at the time, I've agreed for awhile that Duka would have been a better call (and not because of this injury), as the soccer brain beats out the physical assets in the long run, unless you marry the two in time. Dane was that kind of player. he beat the odds of improving enough at a late age to become effective. When he just tried to win on speed and a one dimensional game, defenders figured him out. Now that he has more than one move and as he mixes things up, he is dangerous. It is unclear whether or not Tchani will develop enough to leverage his physical gifts and be a real asset rather than "depth".
Still, I think a majority of teams would have taken Tony over Dilly in that situation. We've made some bad moves, but that was not one of them. But credit to you for having seen his value when others didn't (no one said he was no good, most just thought Tchani was the better choice).
