The only young guy Hans gave up that I thought would eventually come back to bite us in the ass was Tchani because I think if he can stay healthy he can be a beast of a holding midfielder, but even he can't find a club to settle with due to injuries.

That might not be a bad idea. If either Kassel or Hot improve to MLS caliber, RedBull could buy them back. If they don't, they don't lose nothing. If they were to get injured, they (RedBulls) are not paying for medical bills.

It may not be ethical but it might be cost effective.

If they start playing well, any MLS team can buy them. Red Bulls don't have dibs. Wouldn't it make sense to try and loan them out when they were actually on the team?

As far as Tchani, I really liked him. I feel so bad for him because he plays for Warcyzha now. He is literally the worst coach in MLS in knowing how to utilize talent. I watched him single handedly tear apart a very good Columbus side and make some of the dubmest personnel decisions in the play-offs that I've ever seen. He is slowly drowing that team....which makes me happy. He must be a really great guy and everyone in the FO must love him. Becuase if he were judged on results he would have been canned.

First Tony goes to the absolute clusterf#@$ in Toronto, then to a horrible coach in Columbus.

The New York Red Bulls previously kicked around Major League Soccer as the MetroStars with limited success. But after transforming under a new banner in 2005, the Red Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The club has made leaps of progress since its previous incarnation and now has its focus on bringing the league title to New York. Do you think if we would have taken Dilly he would not have gotten traded to Toronto for DeRo?

And then ended up in Columbus anyways?

A toss up at the time, I've agreed for awhile that Duka would have been a better call (and not because of this injury), as the soccer brain beats out the physical assets in the long run, unless you marry the two in time. Dane was that kind of player. he beat the odds of improving enough at a late age to become effective. When he just tried to win on speed and a one dimensional game, defenders figured him out. Now that he has more than one move and as he mixes things up, he is dangerous. It is unclear whether or not Tchani will develop enough to leverage his physical gifts and be a real asset rather than "depth".

Still, I think a majority of teams would have taken Tony over Dilly in that situation. We've made some bad moves, but that was not one of them. But credit to you for having seen his value when others didn't (no one said he was no good, most just thought Tchani was the better choice).

"Sporting KC to bring former RBNY homegrown player Sacir Hot into camp. Smart move for a good prospect. Still don't get why NY let him go" - SoccerByIves

Looks like KC is interested.

it's like a reverse Mike Jones situation.

Mike Jones was a low pick in the supplemental draft. Hot played for the US Under-20 team. Sure, neither has done much on the pro level, but the pedigree is somewhat different...

I didn't even need to open the thread again...I just saw that MF had posted, and immediately, I knew what was coming my way.

Interesting to see if he signs w/ KC or any other MLS team. If he signs with another team he would count towards their cap and roster correct?

Wasn't looking for this, but...

“We have young kids that are taking some steps as well, so Austin (da Luz) has done well, and everybody knows what the other guys can do, Dane (Richards) and (Mehdi) Ballouchy and also Joel (Lindpere)."

"Vermes and his staff were tabbed to lead the Generation adidas tour of the Netherlands, and Hot would be attending.

"We had a good camp," Hot recalled. "I played well over there and they heard about my situation in New York, and they wanted to trade for me. It didn't happen, so Peter told my agent that if anything ever happens to me, he wanted to know know right away."
