If Football Manager ratings are to believed (and their scouting is extensive, as opposed to FIFA's), then he's exactly the kind of player we expect. High workrate, a lot of pace, will battle for balls. In the Adams mold.

It's funny bc this is exactly his fifa profile.

Adams mold down to the number on his back.

There is also the Sean Davis captains armband kiss of death to consider when thinking about the next CM to go

Id imagine his option gets picked up following this season.

Not sure what odds Id put on the RedBulls offering a 28/29 year old Davis a new contract during or after 2021, seems to go against everything they believe in.

Agreed. Fairly confident they will pick up his option, but think its coin flip odds at bets they renew after that.

Desperately need more young legs and high work rate in the center of the field

We have to stop focusing on age and start focusing on talent. Just because your young does not mean your good.

This guy not even going to play. The obvious person to supplant is Davis and he is our captain.

Another 1.5 million down the drain.

To believe this, you have to believe that the stingiest team in the league got permission from ownership to drop a casual $1.5M on a player with zero marketing appeal that they have no plans to use. And then you have to believe that they convinced a Premier League-bound 20-year-old to leave his home country and travel halfway across the world so he could play reserve games at empty stadiums on a college campus.

Is it possible the guy is.... talented? Damn man, you're writing this guy off and he hasn't even gotten into the US yet. What if he comes in and is better than CCJ? I like CCJ but he isn't God's gift to CM yet. Maybe this guy comes in and is a really solid sub for Davis. Who knows? But this post wreaked of sounding like a whiny b****

Exactly. If this guy is talented and shows in training and in actual matches, they will find a way to get him serious minutes. The situation with Jorgensen is not foreshadowing of what happens here. CCJ and Davis are a solid, yet unspectacular duo. If we can improve upon that, Im all for it.

Our depth at central midfield is Casseres, Davis, then Rza (really not a defensive midfielder) and Lema.

Last year, one of our biggest problems was Armas playing Davis as the d-mid.

Clearly, we can use an upgrade here. Will this kid be it? Who knows, but probably worth the risk.

Ridiculous - rotate in this year for 3 rd place . Replace CCJ next year option for Davis as well. Captaincy doesnt guarantee starting gig- you can always have a game specific captain.

You sound angry- maybe stop drinking your screen name

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

So true!

12:26 When the hell is RB going to sign someone! This team doesn't have enough talent!

9:17 The guy we signed isn't going to work, why did we sign him?

yup after our striker group this is the weakest position group currently on the roster.  needed to be addressed if we wanted to improve this year.  Can't risk a Casseres injury happening and riding it out with Davis, Rza and Lema for the rest of the season.

This is why we cant have nice things.

Theres a new sheriff in town named Thelwell. Im sure this guy has been on his radar, and I am sure Thelwell has zero loyalty to Davis, CCJ, Rza, or anyone else on this team. He was brought in to create success. I will give the new guys the benefit of the doubt.

This is how Red Bull operates, whether you or any other fan likes it or not is irrelevant, they will continue to prioritize signing young talent, developing it, and selling it. Its the same for every one of their clubs, so RBNY arent a special case.

Its acceptable to feel like this is taking a risk, especially after the Jørgensen situation, and although that looks bleak to this point hes still a young kid and could come good for this team.

Important to remember that he was signed during a time when Marsch had left, the previous performance analyst had left, there was little in the way of a scouting department, and Hamlett and Armas were running things by themselves stateside. They were provided with three options to pick from and settled on Mathias.

Since then a performance analyst was hired, a head scout was hired, a head of sport with pedigree (who was the sporting director from one of the fastest rising clubs in England) was hired, and theyve begun the process of reshaping this team.

We can question all of them preemptively, but Id rather wait until I see how the players theyve recruited perform on the field.

Dont get me wrong, we are still lacking in top end talent and are desperately in need of some pace. Weve been linked to a few FWs that could help this team in the short and long term, so Im hopeful thats an ongoing process.

You are right young doesnt equal good, but Brentford thought enough of him to buy him a year ago. He got lost in the fold, and at this point probably isnt good enough to get into a squad that is pushing for promotion to the Premier league, but Brentford has a recent track record of finding some really good players and selling them on; see Neal Maupay, Ezri Konsa, Chris Mepham who are all playing in the PL.

So after losing klestian, McCarty, Adams, Robles and BwP I cant criticize this move because he is not an impact player? I dont want someone who is gonna come here and compete. I want a finished product.

Arent we trying to win a title here? Cant be satisfied to be hopeful that a player that barely made the 18, let alone got off the bench for a championship side is gonna come here and tear it up.

Sorry Ill remain skeptical on this move.

This 1.5M should be spent on someone that takes one of the starters and moves them to the bench because hes that good.

Happy to eat crow if it works out. :-)
