I liked Sal.

I didn't like how Jesse used him so much - especially subbing for Kemar in the USOC final in KC.  Although he did assist BWP in the semi final win over Cincinnati

Lots of people had good things to say about him as teammate and person.

Apparently 35 on all time appearances list for NYRB!!!!

Above Tyler and just behind Gio / Mark Chung and Tim Howard.

Good pic of him in NYRB kit for his retirement announcement.   2015 SS winner!

Best of luck Sal !

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

2nd to last alphabetically! Only Zubar.
93 appearances for RB in all competitions.
Only 6 for ATL; no one even updated Wiki on this!

I'm surprised we didn't drive him to retirement earlier after making a career winger play CB for half a season.

The Zizzo trade has to rank among the best in RBNY/metro history. Boy city gave us Zizzo in exchange for Ryan Meara on loan for 1 year. (They really fucked up during that inaugural season between that and passing on Mike Grella).

Sal Zizzo is a cool as hell sounding name, he's a fun dude, and I'm glad we had him.

Wish him all the best going forward (no more tracking back).

Gonna grab a slice today to honor him.

dude has done a lot for a professional US soccer player.  didn't rate him as an RBNY player, but he helped us win a shield nonetheless. congrats to him and good luck

The kind of squad player that might struggle to get out of RB2 today, who managed through pure professionalism to hang on years after his calling-card speed diminished.

Nothing against the guy but am I the only one who thought he was trash? I hated seeing his name in the team sheet lol. Will never forget the worst substitution of all time, Kemar Lawrence for Sal Zizzo in the USOC Final. Moments later he is at fault for the 2nd SKC goal.

Happy retirement!

Edit: Didn't know he wasn't a natural defender so maybe it makes sense that he was trash at defense...

Best of luck, Sal! I always liked him. Ran into him in Hoboken once and he couldn't have been nicer.

Great idea, self.

Just took B train down Grand and scooted over to Sal's Pizza on Broome off Mulberry.

Got a grandma slice in Sal's honor.  Salute, Sal!

Note his instagram announcement is a photo from his NY days so he must consider his time here his most successful/happiest.
