#1416444 Aaron Long's upcoming contract situation

Posted by thoward18 on 19 August 2022 - 10:59 AM

Nah, I think thats the good one. MLS Transfers is good, Transfers MLS is bad.... i think?

Not sure? Regardless, this seems like nothing. "Lots of teams will be interested in this extremely good free player, including a bad EPL team that needs CB help and is run by his former Head of Sport." I have zero sources and I could have written that.

Pretty sure the legit MLS scoopers have said to ignore that account.

#1416214 Can't shoot outside of the box

Posted by thoward18 on 16 August 2022 - 12:47 PM

We have plenty of goals from outside the box this year. Morgan, Morgan, Ngoma, Yearwood, Fernandez, just off the top of my head. Outside the box is not the problem. Getting inside the box and doing something positive there is.

Yeah, scoring from outside the box seems to be the least of our worries. Maybe a Grade-A free kick option is missing, but xG on outside the box shots aren't great anyway and there's a reason teams are taking less and less of them. They're mostly for keeping the opposition honest.

I think our biggest issue is actually the complete opposite. We desperately need someone who can put one-touch finishes in the 6-12 yard area. Like 80% of BWP's goals were like that.

#1415852 Tyler Pasher incoming

How the fuck did we get to a point where Caden Clark is getting the majority of his minutes at RBII while this guy is apparently factoring into the plans beyond a fringe level?

#1415838 Tolkin to Anderlecht?

Posted by thoward18 on 11 August 2022 - 10:19 AM

The European rumors were inevitable like 5 games into this season. Really only a matter of whether we can hang on for 12-18 more months after this season or whether he's gone in January. He's that good.

Underwhelming would be generous here

#1415572 Red Bull is incompetent

We have underperformed as a business, with an increasingly empty stadium.

That I absolutely agree with.

#1415548 2022 Summer Transfer Window

He's far from my dream player but it's really frustrating to see that we could have had Gyasi Zardes for essentially the cost of Clark returning plus the draft picks. This isn't even Austrian mmoney. It's fake Garber Bucks.

The town hall stuff was overall a waste of time besides some people making themselves look like fools and creating a long lasting joke that will live forever.

Nothing that I can remember actually changed over that town hall besides maybe taking the open cup more seriously. It was more Robles and Jesse trying to cool down the flames from a bunch of angry people when firing Petke wasn't their fault in the first place.

It's not solely about forcing change. It's also about forcing them to explain their decisions in a more nuanced level of detail than just, "trust us bro."

Remember when they'd do town halls and hold themselves accountable to the fans?

#1415384 Red Bull is incompetent

Posted by thoward18 on 06 August 2022 - 01:03 AM

It's not Struber's fault but the LAFC comment is a blatant strawman. Nobody is asking the team to completely break the bank. We just wanted the team to make use of the metric fuckton of open cap space and a fraction of the Tyler Adams transfer to bring in a competent striker.

And what's bullshit is that Struber is the one who has to get in front of the press and explain this shit while Hamlett and Schneider sit silently in the comfort a pressbox with catering.

#1415270 Kyle Duncan to return

Posted by thoward18 on 04 August 2022 - 10:29 PM

Duncan isn't replacing Edwards as a central defender. Can anyone say how many games Edwards played this yr as an a) RCB, b) RWB, c) RB? Coulda sworn he was usually partnering Long/Nealis in defense in the 'Sal Zizzo sliding centrally' role.

Reyes is obviously going to that spot.

#1415148 Tomas Pekhart from Legia Warsaw?

Posted by thoward18 on 04 August 2022 - 11:59 AM

Looks like Tomas also wouldn't sniff Legia team now, which is why he is still a FA. And yeah, Barlow for some reason is Struber's favorite, so you need someone who is actually quite good to play over him.

Or maybe a team in financial hardship can't afford him. Or maybe Legia offered him a deal but he just wants to get the fuck out of Poland. Like 30% of the criticisms here are legitimate or at least reasonably concluded while the other 70% are you guys reverse engineering a scenario that only exists in your head so you can be mad.

EDIT: In fact, literally a 60 second google search confirmed this. Legia would like him back and he is speaking with them, but he feels their offer isn't good enough.

not bad.

Luq teammate

long and varied career.

Just don't get why not sign this guy a month ago if out of contract.

But please sign him right now.

Because he was the contingency plan, not the top target.

Not a particularly ambitious signing but at least he has experience and a decent reputation.
