White from Epps, Nealis on a corner, up 2:0 at the half.

Fun fact, over the past 2 seasons, Portland has still never scored against what's essentially our USL team.

Frankly, since I am merely a fan and a not a fancy American soccer writer, I'm going to congratulate Wright-Phillips on a well hit goal. If I was an American soccer writer, I'd claim that the recently retired Henry was wearing an invisibility cloak and carried the ball into the net for the obviously unskilled Wright-Phillips.

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

We don't know if they did in that mysterious game (which wasn't a game) on Thursday... :)

That is true, but putting asterisks next to your memes is far less fun.

Goal aside, Sean Nealis looks like the real deal.

Based on my whole one half of preseason viewing:
Nealis looks like first team contract worthy in the 4th CB spot. Buckmaster also played decent enough out left to see a USL contract. Nobody tell me what Andreas Ivan makes please. Epps looked good when he got out wide right. Fernandez covered a lot of ground after the first ten minutes or so. Scarlett also seems to have stepped up his game. Good to see Duncan, Valot and Beze all running around out there and having decent showings.

They spent 100K on Boateng + Nealis, and the less-regarded one looks to have the upper hand. Curious if Boateng is even there.

I heard 2-0 and 4-0 from a couple sources. The commentators mentioned that they were there, also let on that Red Bull had their chances but didnt break through. Our first team was beat up by their second team.

They also mentioned 34 players are in camp.

2-2 final

So White came out late "without another field player to replace him."

Not playing: Yanes and Lema (USL), Boateng and McSheery (Draft).

Im watching the match now and just finished the first half and couple notes;

It almost looks as if were playing a 4141 instead of the 4231 of last year.

Valot / Omir as double 8/10's while Beze is sitting deep.

Really impressed by Nealis overall play, passing range and control much better than I would expect seems a great 4th CB for first team.

Whites hold up play is good for someone 5 10, wins a lot of long balls and then keeps control. Really impressive to see our C team dominate the west champs like this.

Just finished the match and overall we looked good. The system game them issues in the first half but players like Valeri and Blanco have too much quality to be quiet all match. Overall looking at our C team, I don't think we would come in last in MLS.
