all these acquistions are great and all, but where is the creative player ? is Backe really expecting marquez to be their offensive maestro ?

did they forget how bad things were last year once they traded de-ro ? are they expecting to just lob the ball in the air and hope dane can just outrun somebody to the goal ?

why does he insist that balouchy can do the job ? was he really that much better than Sinisa ?

and entire offseason, and they couldn't find somebody to fill that role ? really ? ? ? ?

Henry, Tainio, and Marquez are the current creativity.

the CAM will be here in the summer. I think they have been pretty clear about that. Until that point the only "in the hole' creative midfielder we have is Ballouchy.

Would you like more time for Ballouchy?

We have to wait to see what they come up with in the summer for a 3rd DP.

Up until that time, we're basically going to be running one striker with Henry withdrawn into the vacuum left by playing a 4-4-2 with two holding mids.

Problem being, we need that point striker to be a true #9 like Rodgers. I don't think Cooper is gonna cut it.

out of the three you've pointed out not one is a true 10. Henry has his moments, but he's not that dependable distributor most successful teams have.

sure maybe and thats a big maybe , we'll have one in the summer. But why did they have to wait until then ? wasn't it obvious they needed one ?

Ballouchy needs a ticket home. end of story

Henry is one of the best short passers in MLS. Hard to argue with the creativity of one of the best players the game has ever seen.

We'd be able to move Lindpere to a more central attacking role if we actually had another player, preferably a pacy one to take his spot, but we don't.

You are aware that its very, very difficult to pull European players away from their teams in the winter right? And as far as our team's offense, you do know that we were second in the league in goals scored last year with very little of that production coming from De Rosario right?

If Henry were the creative sparkplug you're claiming, they woudn't have had the trouble they did last year. The difference on the field with/without de-ro was monumental

that's what your not understanding. Just because de-ro wasn't the one to put the ball in the back of the net, doesn't mean he was useless. Someone had to make the pass, someone had to open up the field for henry/roedgers etc. ..... a good 10 doesn't always lead the team in goals...

and does the player have to come from europe ?

Of course he wasn't useless, but the point is that the team still scored plenty of goals without him. And no of course the player doesn't have to come from Europe but that's where Soler has the most connections so it makes perfect sense that this is where he'd look.

If you think that bringing in a #10 was a higher priority this off season than bringing in more physical and disciplined centerbacks then you're off your rocker. Soler had his priorities right.

It's gonna be Ballack and it's gonna not end well.

10 was and still should have been priority #1 . finding a decent centerback is alot easier than finding a 10 these days. there is too much pressure on the back line primarily because theres no one in the middle to maintain possession and start an offensive push.

looks like this year will be no different. i've always said, no CAM, no cup and it looks like this year's red bulls will prove me right again. sigh.

It seems Philly fans have signed up on metrofanatic to vote for themselves (in 'What team do you hate more?') . No real fan of this team would vote anything other than DC.
