Unfortunately, the gas prices these days make it hard to enjoy driving but I figure we get out once and a while and just enjoy it.

Another favorite of mine is taking Lower Wacker from 290 to Lake Shore. It's so grimy down there, but I love the drive.

Couldn't agree more sir!
A personal favorite of mine is Route 47 just north of Harvard, IL (home of Milk Day and AM 1600 - Tri-County Radio). That stretch of road may rival is destination (Lake Geneva itself) in terms of scenery.
Also, fun fact about Harvard, IL; it was the birthplace of our 38th President(Gerald Ford)'s mother.

1980's: Puting through Maxwell Street Market on Sunday on the scoot.
1990's: Blasting LSD and connecting roads to the Ba'Hai Temple at 4:00 a..m. with six or seven other guys on scoots.
These days: Rolling up the Dan Ryan to the Kennedy, getting off at Milwuakee ave. with a quick left on to Ashland ave. pulling up to La Pasadita for a steak 'log' burrito.
IT's been two full years since I've walked, riden or driven those streets. It's far and away the longest I've ever gone without being in Chicago and tough. The good news is I'll be back for a visit in a matter of weeks and will be staying just three hours away by the end of the summer.
This is a thread that's as tough as what's your favorite song. Shit, today? Next week it'll be something different.

Through the Toys R Us at the Dixie Square Mall.
That place has got everything.
For me, North off of 290 on to Independence/Hamlin. Cut through Garfield Park on Washington on to Central Park North past the Conservatory and East on Franklin Blvd. Cutting off of Franklin North on Sacramento/Humbolt through Humbolt Park. Take Humbolt Dr. north to Palmer Square and cut West on that to Kedzie which you take North to Logan. Skip through the round about and back East on Logan.
It's got to be the longest stretch on the North Side that's got trees virtually every step of the way.

Oh, good call.... 47 is a good road when it isn;t being used like a tollway.... I always stop at the McDonald's in Elburn before heading north....Couldn't agree more sir!

Even the busiest highways/tollways are cool driving when it's *really* late at night and there is little or no traffic... from urban jungle to hillbilly heaven.
Side note: the worst case of road rage I ever saw was near the IL border of SE WI... and it was betwen a utility truck and a passenger car..... both with Illinois plates.... they had the traffic down to 20mph (no kidding) and totally ruined my day!

Word. I'll take that way to get to the Globe instead of the Ryan/Kennedy just for that view.As you round the corner from 55N onto Lake Shore Drive as you pass McCormick Place and Soldier Field....the lake is on your right, skyscrapers on your left with Buckingham Fountain in there. It's an absolutely beautiful sight! Especially when the sun is setting and the light is poking through the buildings.
