So are we just thoroughly conditioned to not expect that a DP signing is possible any more?

That's where I'm at.  Yeah.

Fully expecting us to go into next year with basically the same team. And that should result in a top 2 finish.  Number 1 if Almiron is gone.

We got more cap space from Tyler but fully expecting that to be used on raises.

My only hope is that Mines turns into something, or perhaps Epps does well being on a better team.

I'm really, really hopeful that Epps works out.  Him or Mines.  We need athleticism and speed in the front 4 because there isn't a ton with Royer, Kaku, or BWP.  In the back 6 we are pretty good with all of that, but not in the front 4.

Duncan had a very strong four games, I'm hyped about him too, but four games isn't enough to actively shop a top 3 RB in MLS imo.

Something to consider with Murillo, 2018 was the most he's played and traveled in his young career. I thought most of the moments where he'd turn off for a second came towards the end of the season and fatigue could have played a factor.

Tyler was the only player on the team more athletic than Duncan.  Add that he's pretty skilled on the ball and has solid defensive instincts, I'm extremely optimistic with Duncan.  ACL injury happened so early in the season that it shouldn't be a big factor either.  Plus it's likely there wasnt any more damage in the knee considering he played on the injury a bit.

I shy away from re-positioning guys, and even more so when RW is a position I'd hope we could target for an elite, big $ signing....   but he's just 22, and I really can get behind the idea of him and Duncan together on that side.    It doesn't hurt that he'd finally give some modicum of height to our offense.

Don't think we are getting a legit RWer....

I think we have a budget and that budget is being used on BWP and Kaku.  Sucks but I think it's the case.

We have to root for one of the many to really take a step up next season.  Valot pretty much was doing that, but we need him to return to what he was, and perhaps Mines to turn into a big player.  Mines has it in him.

I'd keep Murillo and slot him at RM instead of Muyl

I'd actually posted about that idea a while back with Murillo too because the guy is just so damn good on the ball.  Clearly his passion is offense too.  Not sure he works hard enough for that spot, but I'd definitely be on board with it.

And as VoR said, I don't necessarily disagree with that.  1 on 1 defending you can tell he cares more and is interested in that.  But positioning to deny passes and and fight level isn't always very good at all.  Don't know if it's mentality with him or just that it's not natural to him.

Also should say that the news of Parker being re-signed is great...  Dude is a beast.  Hopefully now that he has his deal, he'll maintain that effort level.  I think he's actually more important than Long but Long is also great.  They compliment eachother very well.  As long as we keep Parker, Long, and Taxi together we'll be in a great spot.  Then it's all about finding enough goals.
