Costa Rica embarrassed themselves today with the flopping and time wasting near the end, only to shoot themselves in the foot by conceding a few and not having enough time to get them back.

Almost felt like they angered the soccer gods with some of that crazy time wasting.

Awful to see Brazil in blue & Costa Rica in white, when their fans in the stands are in traditional yellow & red.

As much as this game is crying out for a goal, that was a dive by Neymar & he should have been carded.

Hate how they don't card diving.  Ref will emphatically give the Get Up signal in games, but doesn't have the guts to give a card.

Diving has always made soccer look bad and the goal should always be to minimize it.  Happens in other sports but not nearly to the level as soccer.  Hockey has minimized it by fining guys.  Don't know that soccer can fine guys at the national level, but certainly club level.

Part of me thinks that the Marsch rumors were true, but that Stewart swooped in and will poach Jesse.  Not likely of course, but given US Soccer's systemic problems, appointing someone like Jesse makes sense.  Look at what our club has done with player development, both with the academy and RBII.  Klinsmann said we needed an identity, but, as far as I can tell, did nothing to advance that aim.  I think the athletic, high-press style definitely suits American players.  Will be interesting to see what happens.

Agree.  We have the athletes for it.  Also would be nice to see a more consistent formation and something that resembles what most of these players use in MLS.  Most of the teams in MLS go with the 4-2-3-1 but we rarely seen it with the national team.

Still hoping Berhalter gets the US job because he's a good coach and it weakens a team we play a lot.

Still think Marsch is a goner though.  He was talking very much in the past tense over the last couple weeks. Now appears it wasn't for the top Leipzig job, but very well could be as an assistant.  Good call by matador if that happens.

In Topic: Robles looked like a fool

I like looking at the xG analytics to rate keepers.  Goals against and differential are bigger measures of the team.  Robles has been pretty good this year and he's right around #10 in that.

Rimando number 1.  The revs keeper and Gonzalez with Dallas also having great years.
