I also teared up listening to Petke, and even Brent.

I would say Mike was holding back tears not because he is dejected, but because he feels overwhelmed by all the support that fans have showed him.  As he said himself, he didn't die, and by his 'no response' it was made pretty clear that he already has offers on the table elsewhere.  Let him go, learn, improve, and then come back when Red Bull has left for good.  This isn't the end, it's only the beginning.

Maybe, maybe not. In any case, I don't think anyone could listen to the entirety of that thing and believe that Mike is anything but shellshocked and brokenhearted.

What do you think Mike's other offers are? Which ones do you think he would be willing to take?

Some rumors that have sprung up: Toronto Head Coach, DC United Assistant Coach, Red Bulls USL-Pro, USMNT youth

No way he does anything with Red Bull.

I think he replaces Olsen when he finally gets fired.

Hope Mike can come back to NY when Red Bull is gone.

I dont think Petke will ever coach DC. I dont think he'll ever be that desperate. Remember he went there as a player who didnt really have a choice in the matter. This time he can chose not to go. And all his "I bleed NY" talk will go out the window if he ever has anything to do with DC. Although I can understand a family man doing what he has to do to survive.

I don't think that'll happen, but it would be pretty funny.

What actually wouldn't surprise me is if he ended up an assistant on DC, since he & Ben Olsen are really close. Their wives are close. They are both passionate, heart-on-the-sleeve kind of guys, but, I can't begrudge him for taking a job. Dude has a family to feed. He had one here- they took it away from him. If the only good job out there is on DC, he has to take it, and I can't hate on it. We are at fault here, not that guy.

The thing with that is that I still want Robles, BWP, Dax, etc  .. . . to do well. But certainly not at Petke's expense
