Don't give a fuck about the shield.

Why not? Shield winner is the best team in the league. Cup winners are the luckiest.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

We won it twice, time to win the cup.

The MLS cup winner is the recognized best team in the league. Unless I missed something and supporters shield champs started getting a star above their team's crest.

Champion =/= best team.

MLS Cup is way, way more important than the Shield, of course.

Who gets a star in England for winning the FA Cup? In Germany for winning the Pokal? In Italy for winning the Coppa Italia? Etc.
MLS awards stars to the wrong teams.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Sarcasm? I hope!

No, I think I disagree with both of you. :) I do think MLS Cup is the more important trophy, by far.

But also, the winner of MLS Cup isn't necessarily the best team, just the team that won it (this is more semantics than anything else).

Ffs this again.

The shield can't determine the best team either because you don't play every team the equal amount of times. The schedule isn't balanced.

We live in America, playoffs decide the champion. It's how it goes here.

That all being said, I want to win BOTH,EVERY YEAR! And champions league and open cup and the club world cup! I want to win everything every year!

The shield should be the champion. No question. But...MLS so...its not.

Plus we already have 2. I want one of all the other trophies before our next shield.

Well, on my behalf, F U! 😁

You share that feeling with MLS, which created MLS Cup without any recognition of the regular-season winner. It took the SGs of various clubs a couple of years to scrape up the money and create the Supporters Shield. Which is why the SGs still possess it, and pass it on to the SG of the newly-crowned champion.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I am not going to live that long!
The next Shield champion will be decided in October,
MLS Cup on December 8. I want both.
We are in a great position to win both.
But, given our playoff history, we are closer to the Shield.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

What England does is not relevant to this discussion.
