Survival of the fittest! Step up or go home!
This. I love our academy guys and want them to get a fair shot, but they have to win their spot every day just like anyone else.

Just like Keita had to too.
Which leaves us with seven subs to round out the eighteen. Here's who I would bring:
RivasBezecourtDavis
Etienne
Escobar
Redding
Lade
Meara
Make that one change and I'm with you that by talent alone, that's what we roll out.
The jury is still out on Rzat and even Davis, who had up and down year last year. And behind them there is Muyl and Ettiene, who have struggled to play well consistently. We also lost Gonzalo and I am not sure Rivas can fill his shoes. Without Felipe and Gonzalo (I am thinking of Kaku as Sacha's replacement) there are quite a few folks that need to step up and prove themselves.
Simplistically for our starting 11 versus last year here are the changes:
Kaku vs. Kljestan
Rzat vs. Felipe
Parker vs. Perrinelle
Starters like Davis, Adams and Murillo are a year more experienced and theoretically can produce more.
Supersub:
Rivas vs. Veron
Everyone can decide on their own whether or not we are stronger than weaker.
I also wouldn't be surprised if we ended up with a Rivas upgrade or BWP partner in the summer, but since that is speculation we can leave that out of the discussion for now.
My vote is that we look better.
Joe Goldstein on seeing Red was saying that Parker and Long are very similar type of centerbacks, both being the mobile type. So ideally one of them would be paired with a bruiser like Collin (except good).
You can do any sort combo for a 5 man back line, if they wanted:
With Tyler in midfield
Taxi-Long-Collin-Parker-Murillo
At RWB
Taxi-Long-Parker-Murillo-Adams
RIP Guillermo Romulo, Alexander Francis Orig, Celenio Eleazar, and my Mom, Resurreccion Eleazar.
RIP Cesar Castello, Mike Vallo, Glenn Stampiglia, Bob Paquette, and Warren Lee
i think:
BWP
Royer / Davis / Kaku
Rza / Adams
Taxi / Long / Parker / Murillo
Robles
Main Subs:
Rivas / Etienne / Muyl
IIRC on Thursday when Kaku got on, he played centrally, Adams was pushed to the wing spot Muyl occupied and Davis stayed centrally.i think:

Rza / Adams

Robles

Gonzalo on many occasions carried us towards the end of the season. I am afraid we will miss his presence quite a bit. Also comparing to last year where we were #6 in the East is not a high enough bar. I am hoping the goal is to be one of the best in MLS, which means guys like Kaku, Adams, Rzat, and Davis need to step up big time.

We may never know for sure, but I bet Gonzalo expressed his desire, either directly or indirectly, to return home.

why would DC have bothered to claim him then?

Because they weren't in a position to know what we know...that he's allergic to raccoons.
