It will not be anywhere near this:

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

The deal came with one catch, which was too much for MLS to absorb — the institution of a promotion/relegation system within the top two divisions of American soccer

The previous TV deal was more than 10-fold increase in the annual amount (8M to 90M). Absolute numbers in the Silva proposal are much bigger, of course (for a 10-year deal) but the annual total is a ~4-fold increase, for a deal that would have started 5+ years later, with an untenable dealbreaker, and presumably spread among a lot more teams. So while the headline 4 BN number was huge, it was not a lavishly generous offer for something far in the future, especially if you expect MLS to improve and grow anyway, which it certainly has in recent years.

I would make a (based on nothing) guess that the annual TV rights will fetch at least 250M/year starting in 2023.

I hope you are correct!
Also hope that some of that money filters down to the lower divisions.

Totally. MLS is prob angling for a contract so that the use of the word "billion" will be included.

just like when BSkyB paid the EPL a 4 yr/$2bn contract in 1998 or so. changed that league forever. hope it's a multi-channel deal like this current one. i think the next contract is coming in 2020, so my guess would be 5yr/$1bn, by then, there'll be an MLS winner of CCL, and shortly thereafter, a repeat MLS winner of CCL. that's what this coming $$ will do.

don't forget that Adidas re-upped the athletic supplier contract with a 6yr/$700m deal. that figure is SERIOUS for MLS and doesn't get talked about.

RBNY can take advantage of all this new revenue and they should sell the naming right to RBA to the betting house William Hill or someone for ridiculous $$$.

I just hope that the players get at least 30% of whatever the huge deal brings in. $100K minimum for the first 20 on the roster, average $250K, salary cap $5 Million.

I wish that sarlak (sp?) pit from Return of the Jedi was real so we could throw the whack job pro/rel for MLS cult members into it and let them be digested for 1,000 years.
Let's Go Buffalo!!!
