That might be a bit too far, but a team with this little depth was never going to be able to play that way so frequently in the middle of the summer. It's not a huge surprise that there have been three consecutive second half collapses.*whispers* I think the team is quitting on Strubers hyper press system and hes not a good enough coach to overcome that
Not sure what should give. I'd say that Struber needs to dial back the intensity a little bit if there's congestion at this time of year, but really, he just needs more players.
We can talk about strikers (and we should) all we want, but the fact that we're relying on Tolkien and D Nealis to play every minute is crazy. If Stoke really wants Edwards back, the back line is screwed

It's absolutely nuts that there is no VAR in the Open Cup semifinal. It's one thing for lower division sides in the early rounds, but why wouldn't they put it into place for the quarters and on?

The WTC Path weekend closure made a huge difference for me in 2019. I still used my season ticket almost every match that year, but the much longer trip was frustrating.
Crowds were already shrinking by 2019, but I'd bet that the Path difficulties sped things up further.

Anyone know how the quality of the Uruguayan league compare to MLS?
Below MLS because the top prospects move on very quickly, but there is a lot of talent.
This guy plays in Argentina though.

He's still a good player and was handling Jesse's system just fine in Salzburg.
I wonder if he has his eye on moving into the RB coaching ranks. Mentor these young guys, contibute a bit on the field, and eventually take a coaching role here or in Salzburg.

Liam Ridgewell and Xavier Arreaga were/are definitely DPs. I think that Jonathan Mensah and Claude Dielna were also briefly classified as such.
Other than that, Besler and Omar Gonzalez are the only CBs that I can think of, but that isn't really the same thing. Maybe Waston ended up as one at some point too...
Possibly Jelle Van Damme and Gabriel Torres?

It's clear that there is an upside to letting a young, potentially error prone player acclimatize and get up to speed with a system in USL before throwing them onto the field in a high pressure MLS situation that could destroy their confidence.
I think that it also makes more sense to do this with young defenders like Reyes and Murillo than a guy like Kaku, who clearly could have contributed right off the bat without any huge downsides for his future.
A guy like Edwards, with lots of first team experience in high pressure situations at Stoke, no language issues, etc. is kind of a different situation. I think that the only reason he didn't debut earlier was that Duncan put together a couple solid performances in a row.
