I like Taxi and Murillo at FB, rather see them focus on upgrading central defense and attacking options. Kevin Prince Boateng in the 10 spot, trade Sacha for a talented young winger.

I'd still like to see more of Murillo, but really think he and Taxi could lock down the wide defense (or wingback?) roles for the forseeable future.

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

Yeah, Murillo has a ton of upside.  Offensively especially.

My only concern with him is that he's not as natural as Taxi is as a defender.  From day 1 you could see Taxi stopping plays before they started and that's one of the most important things for a defender.  Then again, Murillo is SO young that he's got plenty of time to develop.

To be honest, there probably isn't a wing back in the entire league i would take over Taxi.  Hope we end up keeping him.

Watching the Gold Cup games I am constantly reminded how many young players with talent we have had and how so many of them we have lost due to transfers (yes), but also impatience and shortsightedness.

Our more recent dedication to keeping and developing them is such a profound change that It will pay long term dividends. We brought a lot of youth up the past year or two. I know that for the 2017 season that has provided some turbulence, but not giving up on "less than perfect" young players now will give them time to find their legs. Not all of them will produce, but history has shown that when we have let them go elsewhere that time and time again many have them have turned into successful contributors, just not for us.

Time for us to reap the benefits of what we have sown. We will always lose some to bigger and richer European clubs, but let's hope enough of the Taxis and Murillos stay with us if they remain in MLS.

This was the same concern that people had with Taxi originally, too. That he was just a glorified winger. I think some were even calling for him to be pushed up to midfield.

Disagreed with that from the start.  His ability to anticipate as a defender was natural from the beginning.  That's a tough thing to learn.  Dax was great at it as well and it's the reason he was such a good ball winner.

I don't see that level of being able to anticipate from Murillo, but i'd be shocked if he was that good at it.  He just has to improve a bit because I do think he's very good with the ball and shows a good level of fight.

Love Murillo's basic shielding of the ball when dribbling and absorbing the foul. Zizzo and Lade would just get thrown off of it. His cross isn't bad either.

I think we should be pretty excited abouit this duo for the second half of the season. Murillo seems to have a lot of upside, and if he can develop that and grow his understanding of the game, we'll be solid.

The other thing is that with Lade and Zizzo (who aside for some recent play has been decent this year, especially on offense), we're pretty deep at the fullback position. It's CB that we completely and utterly dropped the ball in the off-season.

Both these guys are keepers. Murillo will be a star soon and Taxi has been great

Taxi has been our most dangerous player this whole season. Has contributed more than Klejstan.

I think there's quite a few people who have contributed more than Sacha.  But totally think that Taxi has been our best player this season.  Either him or Robles anyway.

Think he should definitely be an option considering he's a lefty.

Can you imagine a FK with the following players discussing who takes it:

Felipe (curling kick from a righty)

Sacha (floaters)

Taxi (lcurling kick from a lefty)

Escobar (rocket cannon of a right leg)

opposing goalie's fucked.

As good as the FK was, the GK did a horrible job. It wasn't even upper 90, but still a great shot. Would have never thought Lawrence could bend it or get over the wall. I can see Klejstan, Felipe, and Lawrence doing tricks with double feint attemps. Hilarious stuff.

funny part about this is that Sean Davis also hits a pretty good set piece.  We have a ton of options here.
