How come KC observes retro-nights annually and not the entire league? The MLS 1.0 Teams should be able to adopt this theme. Would be nice to see retro Metro gear like Sporting KC pays homage to the Wiz:

.
If they did, I could see this with RB instead of MS.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Adidas was the original kit provider for KC, DC and Crew.
If they want to do throwbacks, no issue.

The Adidas deal wont allow us to mock a Metro Jersey from 96-05 (Nike). Our first Adidas Jersey was technically Metro, but Red Bull bought the team prior to the uniforms being used on the field.

Nike had a fit when the team covered the Nike logo when they did pregame warm ups in them a few years ago. Last year when I did the jersey piece with Red Bull Insider, items had to be very strategically placed.

Those jerseys are hideous

not nearly as hideous as the ones they actually wore back in 1996.

Are we really still perpetuating this myth?  They have been very respectful of the team history.  The even issued STH scarves with Metrostars logos on them.

Im perpetuating how I feel. I feel like they begrudgingly throw the metro fanbase crumbs to make sure they keep coming back for more misery. If the fans were less passionate about metro then Red Bull would erase all memory.

This was really cool. They should do this again.

This was the night I referenced above that got them in a bit of hot water. Covering a swoosh with a piece of tape doesnt make Nike or Adidas happy.

This is an obvious photoshop.  RB would never allow this.

So why cant Adidas make a retro Metro jersey using their own template? Slap the RedBull crest on an AC Milan jersey and you have retro night! Its not as if Nike has exclusive rights to the kit templates. Now, slapping on MetroStars I understand...

The above may be factual but they are also just excuses.

It may be harder to produce a retro jersey for the non Adidas teams from 96-05 however it is entirely possible to do.

I don't believe Nike owns the rights to the MetroStars logos.

It wouldn't be that hard for the team to slap the MetroStars logo on say the new Red Bull II jersey template, which sold out in minutes at the RBII game I understand.  And the same thing would happen with Metro themed throw back should the team ever decide to produce any.

Red Bull must feel like the boyfriend that shows up to a family event for the first time only to have every aunt and uncle go "awww what happened to ________, he was such a great guy!"
