The whole RBNY ethos is that they don't want to win the passing game, regardless how you measure it. It's beyond obvious.

I don't think they really care about winning at all.

Well then clearly not EVERY team wants to control the game, because many teams want to play a counter-attack or a high press.

I would prefer to win soccer games by being able to possess, counter, counter-press, just about any style you can think of.

But if my owner doesn't spend the money on the players required to do this then it's reasonable to build your game plan around what you have.

Systems are fucking stupid. Get the best players you can and build to their strengths.

We are third-lowest in all of MLS by short passes attempted this season.

What are the criteria for short passes?
Our passes from left back to keeper to right back are
probably 20 yards each, & there are lots of them.

We are 5th in MLS in passes that directly lead to a shot.

By total or percentage? Link?

We are second to last in passes on the ground

Perhaps because we don't make many passes.

fifth in passes that are above shoulder height.

Mostly long useless goal kicks & clearances that go directly to the opposition. Along with crosses that don't connect with teammates. Resulting in really low pass completion percentages.

You are just making shit up.

I say it again: you can't be watching the games.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Klopp plays a system. Pep plays a system. Xavi plays a system. Theyre not stupid, you just need the good players to make them effective.

Teams like England have never really had a system or identity and theyve wasted talented because of that. And teams like Metherlands have punched above their weight at times because they had a system.

Well agree players are more important, but I think you need both to be Uber successful. That said, it doesnt need to be this system. And the team/coach should be able to change their system to accommodate the talent on the roster.
