Dyer reporting:

Hearing per multiple sources that John Tolkin has been offered a contract by #RBNY and is likely to sign with the first team. U17 national team player is a big Homegrown signing for club.

Can play outside back or central midfield.

Anyone have more intel on what to expect from him?

he's played a bunch for the reserve team. didn't look out of place for a guy that was still in HS.

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

No...just no. Enough of the scrub 'signings'.

There are already too many on the first team roster.

So basically everything you don't agree with is somehow trolling? 🙄

There are already enough scrubs on the first team.

Whats the reserve/supplemental roster look like at this point ?

Assume with Tolkin and our 1st round draft pick that covers LB depth. With the link to Tanner, Id assume they are looking outside the organization for RB depth.

You can't have enough depth/youth. These guys can always be loaned to RB2 if necessary.

We obviously ALSO need quality starter signings, but being annoyed by signing U17 national team players is odd. Were you also annoyed when they signed Tyler Adams at 16?

Good idea to lockup the best prospects from the pipeline. To think otherwise is lunacy.

The problem is that they come up just short in every other department and the years go by without a Cup.

Scrub?

Isn't he the highest rated prospect in our club?

Tolkin is a natural central midfielder. I think he has special vision and talent there. I really hope they let him try and develop there, rather than try and continue to covert him to LB.

The New York Red Bulls previously kicked around Major League Soccer as the MetroStars with limited success. But after transforming under a new banner in 2005, the Red Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The club has made leaps of progress since its previous incarnation and now has its focus on bringing the league title to New York. Good to know.  He was the only player to get to train at RBL since Tyler and Davis went 4? years ago.

Wondering if they consider him a starter for RB2 at CM and then try to accelerate his development by having him get first team minutes this year?

Basically beat out Lema for the 4/5/6 CM role (depending how you count our CMs).

The league is playing younger and younger players all the time.  IIRC FCD had 1 line up with like 7 players below 20 at 1 point last year.

good quotes in this article

https://rbnn.us/2019...the-future-now/

His best qualities are just that he’s an intelligent, technical, courageous soccer player,” relayed Wolyniec. “He has a good sense about it, and that’s why we put him different positions. He seems to handle it in a great way.”

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.
