They were smart enough to point out that we needed help scoring, but then essentially the only change will be picking up Burke, Philly's backup striker.

I don't get it... And in a big fan of Burke.

Burke will end up being our best striker with this group. Elias does have tools though.

It's November 23, months before we typically even start making moves, what makes you so sure we're done?

I'm excited to see Manoel back and hope he gets the chance to play in roles outside of Struber's preferred target striker. He's got skill, room to grow, and the profile to go for big bucks down the line if he succeeds. Well worth a ~$1M flyer

It has been lately. We've had multiple signings per year in that range the last few years and a few larger ones sprinkled on top. I know Hamlett is still around but it's not 2019 anymore, the days of signing nothing but USL players seem to be behind us

Still keeping a USL player on the roster, tho (Barlow).

So why the hell did they protect Barlow in the expansion draft?

I'd have to agree that Burke and Elias is probably it.

Maybe DP CB or CM? I can't see us getting 3 STs which is a bummer.

Another striker probably comes down to whether they can unload Klimala.

I don't think that striker acquired once Klimala is jettisoned will be above Elias or Burke. imo, that hypothetical striker would be the 3rd option, with Barlow being 4th choice.

Expansion protection lists had to be in before Philly made their roster decisions, so I dont doubt they didnt think Burke would be available.

I dont agree with this since philly needed to move some of their forwards to make time for their young prospects. Philly was forced to make room.

In the end, they got rid of burke and aaronson

Low key I think our creativity problem is almost as bad as our striker problem was last year. If you take out Luqui our best playmaker was CCJ. Only time our attacker look sustainably good was when Amaya was cooking to start the year.

If we dont think Amaya can consistently recapture that with Burke in I want a DP attacking 8 more than a DP forward (unless its a false 9 type forward). Swapping Barlow for a TAm forward would do the job

Was that because of lack of creativity (ex-Luqui) or because the strategy was to dump it long and chase, or both? Tune in 2023 to find out.

Can't expect much to change in the midfield... Each of those guys are basically likely to be back and adding another guy wouldn't make a lot of sense. The main position to really add someone (to help the attack) was striker.  The only change we'll likely see is the addition of Burke considering I see zero chance that they can get anyone to take Klimala.

Can we throw in Klimala?

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I would like to see what a 4 4 2 would look like. However, we need a solid CB to make this work.
