I think both Elias and Burke will be competing for the starting striker up top, with Elias being either a u22 signing or a low end DP. Barlow stays as the 3rd string striker.

He is 6'3. Good in the air. I am open to the move. Would be a better fit to stuber's tactics.

I think we will play with 5 defenders next year. 3 of those defenders ( reyes 6'0, nealis 6'4 and nocita 6'8 or ndam 6'4) + burke 6'3 will make it almost impossible for teams to defend us in set pieces

height on set pieces is overrated movement and leaping ability more important

1- new DP, 2- Burke, 3- Barlow. Guess its better than Klimala, Barlow and a late arriving and ineffective Fletcher in 2022.

I hate to say this but I think klimala is comming back. I dont think our front office is competent enough to work the phones and get a deal done.

However if we sign Burke, klimala will back him up.

I understand but trying to defend a team filled with giants would be a challenge for any team.

as long as he's the 2nd string striker/spot starter I like the move. Need more for a starter.

If Long is gone, Burke would be the second-oldest player on the team behind Meara.

Signing a 30 year old is stunning but I like it. I hope he has a green card so he counts as a domestic. The main thing this signing signals unless we have some surprise departures is we are playing with two forwards again

Seems like a no-brainer of a signing. Good look!

I feel like the profile and timing of this signing is going underappreciated. A 30 year old striker, with actual goal-scoring experience, signed in November?!?! Even if it takes a bit more time, when was the last time that the club signed someone from outside the organization this early in the offseason? Ever?

He's not a big name starter, but as of a few days ago you would have been tarred and feathered around here for suggesting we'd even consider this type of player. Kudos to Schneider and the club for continuing to head towards a balanced roster.

Lewis Morgan 12/12

Amro Tarek 12/11

Marcus Epps 12/12

Sal Zizzo 12/11

Bobby Covey 12/13

Kimura, Olave, Espindola 12/3

Josue Martinez 12/6

So, never in RBA era.

Most of these are trades.

Looks like the deal is almost done. Going to be 2 years with another year as option. Hopefully he's brought on to be a super sub and not the main striker. Has a proven MLS career and good on the defensive end so this should mark the end of Barlow.

Yeah, they are basically saying it's done.  Tom Bogert reporting.

Again, this is a good thing. I'd already prefer Burke over any striker we have, save maybe Manoel at times.  Get to see Philly plenty being in the market I am.

In a perfect world though, we get a significantly obvious starter.

And as others have mentioned, this is definitely a good thing with having news this quickly.  Closing deals isn't something we've proven to be good at over the last many years.

Good move, especially if they oust Klimala. However, they need to bring in a DP level striker this offseason.
