At first I thought it was the Cahill from Bolton that went to Chelsea which didn't make sense. Good thing because we don't need no more defenders.

And just what, may I ask, is wrong with that?

He does come from the land of convicts, so why not.

There's nothing wrong with that!

I lied, there is. He's not Luke Rodgers.

I really hope we get him.

I've seen him many times back in England and he's a very good player. Or at least was a few years ago.
His speciality was arriving late in the box and scoring a lot of goals for an attacking MF.

Snap him up!
You'll find me in 101 somewhere near the drum!

Need, no, I suppose not. But if we turned down Gary Cahill for want of Holgersson, well, Blackburn turned down Zidane because they had Tim Sherwood....

32 yrs old.
5'10" not terribly small.
Never hated him, always liked his scrappy play.

There's worse players out there. The commentary re: Luke Rodgers does translate here. So, I can see why Backe / Soler may like him.

Plus we can make Superfly Jimmy Snuka jokes... that's the big plus for me.

"Obviously, I want to make a living (in soccer), to say the least," he said. I've seen Cahill play more than 50 times. Here's the overview:

- He plays both forward and in midfield. More as a forward in the past 2 seasons.
- When he does play forward, he plays as a 2nd striker/creative midfielder.
- Very good in the air despite his size, especially on set pieces.
- Good dribbling and passing skills.
- Very, very high soccer IQ.
- Rough and more than a little dirty in his tackles. He's a very rugged player.
.

So let me see...
Creative midfielder. Good with his head. Good passing skills. Rugged. Very, very high soccer IQ.

Hmmm...

Doesn't sound like the kind of player we like to pick up.

But OK, I can be swayed. But answer me this, is he better than Ballouchy? Can he cross borders with a single bound?

Guy has played for Everton in the EPL the last 8 years, scored plenty goals, and is considered a team legend.

Unless Ballouchy had some sort of secret 100 goal premiership career i'm not aware of...

And the guy can fill in at striker if needed.

Well how would we ever find out if he's not allowed to go to England?

That's an unrealistically high bar you're setting for the Red 'Roo. He's just a DP, not some kind of magic man.
