#1359396 Sam Cosgrove (and Lawrence Shankland)

Better than nothing, but...yeah, not exactly a Flores or a Chicharito type.

Barlow, White, Cosgrove...can we call this the Mayonnaise Line? #GringoArmy

Maybe we will get Metro-themed tarps...

Even if its 87 guys, thats 87 people trying to pay you for team gear. Mitchell & Ness take the risk by creating the inventory, RB just cashes a check when it gets sold. That they wont take free money unless it is on their terms is another reminder that they do not give a shit about you- 87 or not.

Please sell this club you embarrassing assholes.

#1357901 Let's begin funding campaign for BWP statue

Posted by jamison on 12 December 2019 - 12:39 PM

I feel like he also leads the league in playoff goals after the 80th minute when we're down 2-0 on aggregate & end up losing 2-1.

I support him getting a statue, but fucking soda inc can pay for it. And, I'd be willing to pay for it more myself if he'd been as dominant in the playoffs as he was in the regular season, but, anyway, still a great guy. Wish him all the best.

#1357805 New head scout hired

Posted by jamison on 10 December 2019 - 11:55 PM

We heard the first rumors of Kaku like Dec 21st & he was barely in the door by Mid-March iirc.

Hopefully hiring a head scout means we are going to be bringing in more & better players, but..all we can do is wait. Very tedious.

#1357650 Murillo sold to Belgium

Sold to Belguim.

He was a really good player, until he wasn't. Something happened in the locker room and Armas basically didn't want to play him; his play dropped off but I don't know how much of that was him, how much was the coach, and how much was the entire backline being pants for much of the summer.

Anyway, I'll remember the good times. When he was on, he was great. Best of luck, hermano.

#1357486 Official: Robles to Miami

Posted by jamison on 02 December 2019 - 08:19 PM

In light of that, Im ok with him not holding out for some GAM/TAM; weve thrown a lot of guys away in crap ways. Giving Luis his wish is a fair payback for his years of service on & off the field.

#1357389 What would it take for Red Bull to sell?

*Nov 26., checks to see how offseason is going so far*

Life expectancy of Austrian males....

Yep...thats about right.

All of this worrying about Father Time... But what about Mother Nature?

#1356848 Paper bag protests?

Posted by jamison on 16 November 2019 - 06:09 PM

2019 was a bummer but 3 shields in 6 years isnt that far in the rear-view, compared to the rest of this franchises history of crap. Id give them until July with no incoming transfers in Winter & Summer before you protest en masse.

They say they want to improve; time to put the money where the mouth is.

#1356569 News from the Mothership

Bragantino will get a familiar new logo:
https://www.footyhea...o-logo.html?m=1

If that logo is accurate, thats fucking awful, lazy garbage. There are a bunch of other logos in there that are at least compelling; shame if RedBull goes the photocopier route again for a generic re-brand.

As much as this organization can do some good things, there is still a lot of lifeless, soul sucking bullshit going on.

#1355154 Murillo burned bridges

Posted by jamison on 12 October 2019 - 06:54 PM

There was also a point midway through the season where Murillo was benched & Armas said if fans knew what we coaches know, theyd understand. The coaches were starting Rece Buckmaster vs LAFC on the road in like his 2nd or 3rd career start, and people were looking for an explanation that they never really got. But if you read between the lines, the answer was there. Something happened with him in the locker room this year that made him unplayable.

Which is sad, since he is an all star quality player when he is focused & locked in. Whatever it is/was, seems like he needs a change of scenery. On to the next.

#1354779 If Red Bull had to do it over

Posted by jamison on 01 October 2019 - 07:05 PM

They've invested a fortune in New York: RBA, the training facility, RB2, the Academy. It's just that they haven't invested in the pieces the first team needs to put us in the best position to navigate a playoff tournament and win a Cup.  Their investment has primarily been toward player development, with the goal of ultimately producing talent for Leipzig. Fortunately it's led to a competitive side that's been able to win a few Shields, but unfortunately no Cups...and now the days of spending on an Henry or Cahill are over.

Theyve invested a lot but also made a lot in asset appreciation since the purchase.

Chicago was just sold for a valuation over (iirc) $400M, and theyre a tenant at Soldier Field going forwards. RB likely invested more than $150m between the stadium & other facilities plus funding operating losses, but are sitting on something worth well north of double that amount.
