#1343005 Metro - San Jose Game Thread

Exactly...  Its just unreasonable and I guess thinking that us not having Taxi is the reason why we got crushed vs Atl.

Us not having any tactical flexibility is why we got crushed by Atlanta (and Santos, for that matter).

I'm gutted about last night, but I guess my expectations weren't so high to begin with; I don't think anyone in MLS is up to the level needed to win that competition yet.

This is kind of a crazy take when Toronto was a blown sitter away from winning last year, and only lost on penalties.

For losing a game we were expected to lose anyway? We are lucky we got that first half. Unless you think Henry or Woly would do better.

Mismanaging a game isn't a thing you do once, and this is a continuation of problems that Armas has had in the past.  This series feels really, really similar to Atlanta in terms of preparation and in-match adjustments.  It doesn't inspire any confidence in his decision making going forward.

Our finishing is absolute shit, and it's going to toss us out of yet another knockout tournament.

This front office drives me up a fucking wall.

So does failing to win at home.

An MLS team (while playing a non-MLS team) has advanced ONCE while not winning the home leg.  Montreal did it in 2014-15 against Pachuca, advancing on away goals after draws in both legs.

Even then, it took a 93rd minute second-leg goal to get them through.

Gonna add some extra stats to this.

In the Concacaf Champions League era, MLS teams have faced non-MLS opponents in 39 knockout ties.  Below are the numbers on how teams have fared, in terms of advancing, based on the home result:

Loss: 0/5 (0%)
Draw: 1/12 (8%)
Win by 1: 2/10 (20%)
Win by 2+: 12/12 (100%)

To reiterate: a home draw is an awful result, and we should really be hoping for a 2+ goal victory tonight.

A 0-0 draw wouldn't be terrible.  Away goals kill you.

I noticed most of your posts offer very little insight and low IQ. Yet I don't tell others to ignore it. I made a point about Tarek, that goes beyond this one game. I get it, you like quantity of posts of quality, but sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut if you are unable to offer intelligent response.

Low IQ?  lmao get out of here

Santos went full first-team last night against Leon and lost 3-0.

Now that reddit soccer streams is dead, what's the best source for online streams?

ESPN+

It's $50 a year.  Just buy it.

I didn't like that either, commentator even said he got the ball first. Oh well

Getting kind of tired of terrible Mexican performances, club and international, getting bailed out by late heroics and/or extremely soft penalty decisions.

There was never a reason for Murillo to play this game.

I caught the second half, he was destroying people. Definitely MLS level at least, and probably better than that in the long run.

Yep.  He'd be in the league for 2, maybe 3 years before another move abroad.  Stepping stone here, and that's fine.

Watching Herediano - Atlanta, and I am crazy impressed with Jimmy Marin.  He's a winger (!), has 3 caps for Costa Rica (!!), and is only 21 years old (!!!).  Absolutely flies when he has the ball.  We can definitely afford him, and he fits the Red Bull ethos.

7 goals, 3 assists in 2,175 minutes across all competitions this season.

#1341142 Stream quality of Yahoo sports

Posted by Arsenal14 on 21 February 2019 - 11:37 AM

I used 4 different methods to watch the game.  Some worked, some didn't.

1) Stream through browser on Xbox.  If it connected correctly, it worked well for a few minutes and then would buffer every 45 seconds.  Bailed on that.

2) Chromecast full tab from computer - same issue

3) Stream on the computer - worked well, but quality faded in and out

4) Stream on the Yahoo app - worked perfectly and with high quality, but god help me if I have to watch an entire match on my phone.

I wanted an Italian vs MLS SuperCup pre-season friendly that was Atlanta vs Atalanta at Atlanta, but as Mick Jagger said, you cant always get what you want.

Or a 3rd DP. Cant get one of them either.
