Why should that fact placate anyone or excuse anything ???  A)  It has hurt us in the past  B) WE NEED TO DO BETTER, ESPECIALLY AFTER THE SHIT SEASON  WE JUST HAD

I'm only saying that in response to the widespread fear that we're not signing anyone this offseason because it hasn't happened by January 22. I'm not saying its ideal or even good, I'm just trying to talk some fans off the ledge here because this isn't a unique position for us to be in.

Exactly. Why do we always have such a hard time making signings? Why do we always hear of signings falling through at the last minute? Other MLS clubs don't seem to have these problems....

Look at DC over the past six months or so.

They know Rooney is leaving, so they bring in Ola Kamara before last season even ends.

Then they make a splashy DP signing in Flores and work out a deal to aquire Gressel.

Why can't Red Bull operate like this?

Why WON'T is the better question.

Don't we have a ton of funny money (GAM, TAM, etc...) from our recent sellings?

Why did we not get gressel?

That would have been a great move!

DC payed about 1M in funny money for Gressel, that and the new contract he is getting which is rumored to be north of 700k.
That would tie up between 2.1-2.4M for three players on defense, not counting a bump for Lawrence

Exactly - it's NOT unique.  It's all too common.   And its not good and its unacceptable, especially after the promise not to repeat past mistakes

Gressel was mostly an attacking player on the wing before Atlanta started using a 5 man back line more often, he would have slotted well into Sims' spot.

USL side Miami FC just tweeted that news was inbound with a graphic of a Red Bull can. Lloyd Sam's been there since the start of last year. Gotta figure that's where BWP will end up to close out his career?

Looks like it's Bezecourt, not BWP.

I like how they call themselves "The Miami FC", like "The Ohio State University"  Wonder if they're taking a shot at Beckham's new club?

Perhaps more a comparison to The U.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Just two fewer goals for us than BWP last year, so not far off

too soon?

Always thought we should target Gressel, he would've been a great fit for us. However I am skeptical that Atlanta would've traded with us, just on principle.

We couldn't blow 1MM in funny money out of the water? Offer 3MM. At least make an attempt.

Unless there is some crazy surprise signing that comes out of nowhere, this is shaping up to be the worst offseason I've ever seen from this club.

Just remember that Denis said "We've been given the green light to spend". Well, we're waiting Denis......

Haha you werent a fan when petke got fired.

This fact has done nothing to calm anyone down yet but here it goes:

Red Bulls have not made an international signing at or before this point in the off-season for the last decade. If you've just lost faith in Hamlett/Red Bull that's one story, but don't let the timing alone scare you.

In the last 10 years when is the last time the team/fan base was this desperate for a spark and hope for the season. Honestly can't see how anyone spends money on this club if they don't sign anyone. So now we go from 1 to 2 DP slots open, in a league when most teams are spending. Nah can't support that.

This is a good example of retooling. Is this a foreign concept? We just lost our greatest player and goal keeper EVER.

How do you not retool after losing that talent (and salary)? Then hamlett is telling lies to the fans on top of it, saying they will spend.

The lies is what gets me upset.
