Yeah, clearly this is the first time TV stations have dealt with multiple games in the same region so no one's prepared for this crazy scenario.

There's at most 2 or 3 dates on which Devils/RB have games on the same day in a season, it is not rocket science to consider one more factor and make it possible for people to walk the 15 minutes between arenas. Clearly not a priority for MLS, but it is far from hard/impossible.

You're pretty silly. There's shittons of logistics involved in doing anything like this and your dismissiveness belies that you perhaps have never personally managed or developed anything of much complexity (don't conflate hard with impossible tho, impossible is nothing).  Also - the assumption that there is enough crossover demand between the devils and rbny is a bit naive - I personally hate the devils. fuck the devils.

Happy holidays!

That's pretty rude and wrong, not to mention a strawman of an argument.

No one has said there is any significant crossover. Some of us would like to be able to go to both, that's all. Like I said, clearly it's not a priority for MLS, but I don't think it would be particularly difficult to arrange.

If MLS were paying me, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to make all the crazy logistical planning necessary to not have NYRB v ORL be the only non-West Coast game on that day.

Who has actual control over the game time? I assumed it was MLS, can local TV stations or the home team make the decision to move games?

I'm assuming MLS has ultimate control, with inputs from TV stations being really important and teams also having a seat at the table.

There's a decent amount of fans who have season tickets of both teams. I always see quite a few red bulls jerseys when they play games on the same day that you can go to both.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask them to schedule home games not at the same time of the day, especially when the Devils schedule has been out for many months prior. Even more so when RBA doesn't have a ton of other events going on.

If anything both teams should be teaming up and selling tickets to both games on the same day as a package of sorts to get a crossover and some new fans into the buildings for each.

First step is convincing some big shot in each FO that this was their idea.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

This one I can't honestly blame them for, there is almost a never ending list of schedule conflicts in the NY area, we'd play at 3am every week if we waited for an exclusive time slot. For playoff games and stuff yeah check the schedule, but regular season that's a bit much for MLS to account for.

I like the schedule for the most part. I was hoping for Nashville and Miami away games but oh well. I was going to try do Cincinnati away as well but not happening on a Wednesday. I'll probably try to make Orlando away though.

My biggest annoyance is the March 28th 1pm home game when the Devils are playing at home at 2pm. I'll just sell or use a buyback on my Devils tickets but would be nice if the teams didn't schedule games at the same time when they are so close to each other distance wise.

Also didn't realize Chicago changed their logo, this new one is complete trash.

NY Guardians have a home game at 5pm that day. I'm making it a doubleheader as I have season tickets to both teams. If the Devils were good I would say screw both games. Sell both tickets away and go to the Devils.

They can do that with the XFL NY Guardians if they were smart. Metro is 1pm. The Guardians play at 5pm the same day.

If I remember right. The last time this issue came up was in the 2012 season when I think we played Chicago 1pm midweek in July. The GM wanted to bring in campers for the game. It turned out the rule back then was, all gamedays are handled by the league. But the start time itself is decided by the home team if the game isnt on National Television. So considering this game on March 28th, is it on Univision or Unimas which typically does an early saturday afternoon start in the beginning of the season. If not its totally on the front office.

That league probably won't make it to a second season, would be a waste of time to bother for the Red Bulls.

Hoping we are picked up by MSG again? Feels like it is typically announced 5 minutes before the season starts. Not totally unlike our transfers.

Already announced in the season schedule announcement...

"New York will be featured on national television 14 times, which includes five times on FS1, three times on the ESPN (2 on ESPN, 1 on ESPN2), three times on Univision and three times on UniMas.

MSG Networks, which has been the clubs regional television home since 1996, will again air all local broadcasts in 2020. MSG Networks will telecast pregame and postgame coverage for all home games the network televises, and pregame shows for all away games it televises."
