Yeah, those rules were for DPs. I remember that Kaku's cap hit in '18 was 200k, cuz he was 23yo at the time.
Gotcha - I'm a dumbo - it hasn't been updated then. Thanks.

Not clear but theres supposed to be 3 regular DP spots (whether young or regular) and 3 U22 spots to bring more young talent into the league.
Per the athletic thats not how its expected to work. In classic MLS ways there are several exceptions.
"If a club has two conventional DPs, it would be able to add four players with the youth fund. Teams that have three conventional designated players — or three senior DPs that cannot be bought down with allocation money, like Toronto FC did in 2020, for example — would be allowed just one youth player slot."

RBNY have only 1 DP, and we have no idea if any of the signings this offseason are going to apply to the (4) youth spots. The only non loan players who would potentially qualify are Carmona, Reyes, and Harper.
all i was saying is its not 3 regular DPs and 3 U22 players as a clarification since you said "not clear"
not commenting on our situation. Also hopefully Kaku proceedings dont drag out because hes just taking up a DP slot now unless they are able to loan him to USL lol

Kaku would dominate USL. Make it happen!
Just like Andreas Ivan dominated USL, lol!
RIP Guillermo Romulo, Alexander Francis Orig, Celenio Eleazar, and my Mom, Resurreccion Eleazar.
RIP Cesar Castello, Mike Vallo, Glenn Stampiglia, Bob Paquette, and Warren Lee
Someone in another thread said he was leaving because the team didnt rate him. And the negativity is due to only signing USL players and academy products. When even small market teams are paying transfer fees, it makes it more difficult to think that the team has any ambition past supporting Leipzig.
But what you said isnt accurate. They have paid transfer fees and the majority of the players signed arent from usl and the academy. Thats a false narrative that people like to run with which is completely inaccurate. People just like to go with the flow and run with what they are being fed.
Who is feeding the fans that narrative? Every single reporter for the team, sides with the team. Before Thelwell came on, during Hamlets tenure they paid transfer fees notably Jorgensen. I never claimed the team isnt spending transfer fees, Im saying the team isnt going out and getting someone that can help now. Theyre paying for potential
Not saying its a bad thing but more and more I am coming to terms that NYRBII is doing its job.But what you said isnt accurate. Coach them up and ship them out.
We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.
Crickets.
Wonder what the hold up is with the Harper and Coronel deals, unless there was more fiction than fact with both of them.
Still 6-7 weeks out until the season but preseason starts soon and theyve signed a CB, a RB, and a striker for the first team (2 of those on loan), havent spent a ton of money, havent signed a DP or used U22 slots (to our knowledge)
Word - had thought they were saving Harper announcement as good press to battle Kaku bad press - but seems like they missed that opportunity.
Hopefully it'll be like the 12 days of Christmas leading up to Preseason, but I'm suddenly filled with doubt. I do think there will be at least 1-2 RB loanees coming over (in addition to Coronel).
