Interesting that they signed him and loaned him out immediately to tampa.

I think they are setting up a future sale. He has a solid season with Tampa they can sell him on to some second division euro team for some cash

Yeah, that is what it seems like to me as well. If they really wanted him, he would play with the first team or continue to develop him in rb2

Never heard of these 3 individual option year contracts before but the team is loving them right now. One way to mitigate against risk I guess.

some of it is he has maxed out rb2 he isnt really going to grow there but needs minutes so a different independent pro environment in usl is a good step

I see that as a possibility but if that was the true goal I don't see why he'd tie himself up to us rather than just sign with Tampa as a FA and have more freedom of movement. I wonder if he hopes to have a future with RBNY but wanted a bigger challenge in USL with a competitive, veteran team in front of legitimate crowds rather than playing for the IIs again.

He prob rec'd better contract terms with RBNY than Tampa, esp with those option yrs.

Anyone else thrown a bit by the fact that this kid has a 10 year old's face and a neck tattoo?

In 5 games with Tampa, he scored 3 goals. if our scoring goals woes continue, will we recall him from the loan?

Jake LaCava feels perfectly at home with the Rowdies (tampabay.com)

His succeeding is all the more reason to keep him there, IMO. Let the kid breathe and develop.

Jake LaCava has 6 goals for Tampa Bay Rowdies this season. Also with 6 goals this season... the entire NYRBII team.

Will be a nice addition in 2023 given our current corps.

He is clearly benefiting more player for a real USL team than he would for RBNY II.

Which begs the question, is ANYONE benefiting from playing on RBNY II?

Probably not, but they definitely got the Lacava thing right. Figure hell work into the spot in the rotation where Clark/Wiki would be if healthy, fighting for minutes in the winger/AM spots.

Unfortunately RB2 should have moved to MLS Next Pro this season instead of next.
