I'm really just holding this space for Fredo...
But until that point...
I hope we win.

EDIT: Um, well, ok, dang… Go Galaxy!

It’s The Home Opener and The G’s start off the season… wait…
It’s The Home Opener!! What else is there to say?
Well, The Galaxy start off at home against The Chicago Fire. Chicago has added Joel “The Stone-Legged Estonian” Lindere and Jeff “Gingerbread” Larentowicz this year. And, they still have Nyarko to give us problems on the flank. The G’s should dispatch with these Midwest Milquetoasters with a clinic in MLS defense on Sunday afternoon.
Of course there are questions…
Homegrown: Do the kids find a seat at the grownups table?
Without Landon and no signing reinforcements (this transfer window…), the G youths are expected to step up in this season of transformation. But, Zardes is injured and Villareal is still in Mexico. Could it be McBean to the rescue?

”It’s definitely Robbie’s team.” –Mike Magee
With the heart of the G’s off on Holiday in Cambodia, Bruce has given the armband to Robbie. Robbie was already the leader on the field. Now, he’s the unquestioned leader in the clubhouse. Good ol’ Robbie has made LA his home and the G’s his team. Robbie no doubt has the passion. Does he have the heart?
Homeland Security
The back four should be solid with Omar and AJ healthy. Meyer and Gaul have a full season under their belts. But, the question here is, with Back-to-Back Champion starting goalie Saunders now in Salt Lake, is Cudicini The Man?
From Our House to Your’s
LARS is participating in the PASSBACK program. So, bring your gently used soccer gear (balls, cleats, jerseys, shin guards, etc.) to the Home Opener Pre-Game Picnic to help spread the love of the game. Soccer gear can also be donated at the LARS Kick-Off Party at Trader Vic’s on Friday night and at the LARScelona vs Section 8 Supporters’ Game at the HDC, Field 7 on Saturday afternoon.
Bruce says The G’s are ready. We’re The Champs. Mama, Take Me Home…
Oooooooh Galaxy
Oooooooh Galaxy
Oooooooh Galaxy
Let’s Go L.A…. Galaxy!

It looks like the newcomer Clark will be the guy on the left side. We'll see if he is the left sided player that we've long been looking for.
I like Magee and Keane together up front. More importantly, Keane seems to like Magee up front, and happy Robbie is productive Robbie.
I'm really curious to see what Bruce is going to do with Franklin. I think he really wants him to be a midfielder, but I'm not sure if the soccer God's agree. If Sean stays in the back, does that mean Stephens on the right?
There was a banner ad featuring Omar across the bottom of the LA Times sports page. I'm glad the team is finally doing that kind of marketing.
I still hope we win.

This is LA/the year, where no MLS team has gone before (3rd MLS Cup in a row, winning CCL & going to the Club World Cup). Well, only if the stars align (again and hopefully better, than on the new kit)

Hot damn, here we go. Today's Gs:
Cudicini; Dunivant, Gonzalez, Leonardo, DeLaGarza; Clark, Juninho, Sarvas, Franklin; Magee, Keane.
Subs: Jimenez, Garcia, Rugg, Perk, Stephens, Cochrane, McBean
Leonardo starting in back? To quote the futbol analyst Han Solo, I got a bad feeling about this.

I was wondering where Tommy Meyer was, since he came up so huge down the stretch last fall. Turns out his hamstring is dinged:

Meanwhile, Cudicini needs to be quicker dealing with the damn ball.

It'll sure be good if we can convert one or two more of all these opportunities. (EDIT: Like that - Keane and Death Ray Eyes set up BAMF )
Stephens in for Clark in the 67th minute.
