What do you say he does for this team exactly?

It seems Philly fans have signed up on metrofanatic to vote for themselves (in 'What team do you hate more?') . No real fan of this team would vote anything other than DC.

Hard to have an opinion on players when so many guys look bad.

Good speed, works hard, seems pretty athletic.  Not quite ready for prime time though.

Overall I see a number 9 similar to BWP.  Focused on goal, not great vision with the ball but then again, most kids don't have great vision yet.

Uh can I get an option in between? Can't write off an 18 year old kid entirely but he's clearly not on the same page as his teammates. Takes forever to make decisions and then he usually makes the wrong one.

Ideally he'd play a few games with RB2 but his transfer fee and Armas's current desperation make that seem unlikely to happen.

I think we should send him to rb 2 to build up his confidence in the rb system.

Seriously? He's 18 and a 3 games in and everyone else has (also) been terrible offensively.

He's making smart runs, but final passing towards him isn't good. No one, even prime BWP from the past couple of years never made anything good out of long floated balls by CBs over the top. Expecting the skinny 18yo to do better is just dumb.

Dunno about sending him to RB2. I wanna see more from him, but not sure how that's gonna happen.

Either Shep or Yardley mentioned during the broadcast that Armas considers Jorgensen's ability to use his speed to make long runs behind the CBs one of his biggest strengths. I think those long floated balls were as much the game plan as they were poor execution.

Oh yeah, definitely the game plan, definitely a bad idea.

Long balls behind the defense for a speedy forward work when there's plenty of space behind and with early, better delivery, not as a desperation move when there's no space for short passing and defenders are planted 20-25 yards from goal waiting for the pass.

Long ball over the top with a 4-2-2-2 is pretty much a staple of the Leipzig gameplan - at least last year. The thinking is that your forwards won't get to every ball, but it will allow your defense and mids to push forward and start the press from deep in their zone.

We didn't look terrible 1st half against Orlando - the first goal was definitely against the run of play. I don't think we should abandon it so soon because the 4-5-1 has made us look absolutely putrid so far this year.

"Over the top" is key there. Getting a CB running to his goal and having to pass back or clear the ball in to throw-in on the run with 1-2 touches is a good outcome. Decent chance of messing up or passing it to a RB player in a dangerous area (even more so at the MLS level of CBs as opposed to Bundesliga).

Not sure if it's bad timing or just poor delivery by our defenders, but our long balls rarely get over the top, and end up being safe headers easily won by tall CBs who have no trouble dealing with them and often easily direct them to teammates, minimizing the likelihood of a turnover.

Passing to him was bad. But he does not get enough separation because he is weaker than the 20+ yr old defender on his case. Needs to bulk up and play for RB2.

It was a highly speculative signing based on a limited sample size.  He deserves time to try and figure it out, but this team needs more from him now.  That's more an execution error in roster strategy rather than a mistake for signing a kid they've identified as a potential future contributor.

Now if you wanna argue they should've seen more than 13 games from him, I'll agree with you.
