I believe because of MLS roster rules.   Only other possibility I believe was Politz and he doesn't seem to be a realistic option either.  At least Redding had MLS experience.  Ndam has been loaned down and recalling those guys isn't an easy thing to do.  Plus, sometimes you need to put a guy out there to see what happens when his teammates around him are better.  I don't expect Redding will see any more MLS minutes outside of injury.

Ive personally really liked Scarlett but he's only on the RB2 roster.

On a separate note, I really, really hope we can re-sign Parker.  That recent interview with him in the Athletic was some quotes from him sounding open to a move over seas after this season and that would be a huge loss.  1, he's an absolute beast.  Maybe better than any CB I've watched since I've been a fan of this team and that includes Olave.  Secondly, we gave up a lot to get him.  That's fine as long as we can bring him back long term, but really rough if he leaves after this season.

Im pretty confident he will never see mls time again this year. Id rather see Taxi, Murillo, Lade all at CB before him.

Ndam is loaned down due to INTL slots (Beze or Valot would have needed to go down).

Scarlett is signed to a II contract and is in the process of learning to lead the backline. A MLS signing would have been a setback on his progress.

Politz vs. Redding was a toss up. Redding played well in MLS last year so this was probably the best choice game to give him a chance to shine again and Marsch treated this like a throw away game.

Pretty amazing to watch the highlights of this game.

First goal was clearly Redding. Gets caught in no mans land and doesn't make an impact on the passer or the receiver of the pass despite the play being pretty obvious.  Perhaps could get on Rivas for not getting back as well but that is a stretch.

Second goal was the referees.  Dwyer is small but plays like a big man.

Third goal was Redding.  Could even see Taxi screaming to Redding on the throw and was basically pissed that he wasn't heard.  What's worse is that when Dwyer was ready to strike the ball, you could see Redding fall back like he was scared of the impact. Just CANNOT have that in a CB.  And that's a natural instinct that is tough to grind out.  Fidel at least was always willing to stick his nose in there.

Fourth goal was just bad luck.  Maybe on Taxi for not closing down the space fast enough but that's probably a stretch.

And forget those two goals, Redding was at fault for a few other really good chances.  The great save by Robles on the header was Redding's mark.  He held him onside and blew the timing of leaving his guy.

He just can't play again for us.  At least not for several months.  Do whatever it takes to avoid it because he's a severe negative on the field.  Preferably give him the season down there and if he doesn't show any growth in camp then ditch him so he doesn't take minutes away from guys like Ndam, Politz, and Scarlett.

I don't disagree with Marsch's post-game take of a more positive response. But in my view, RBNY just lost six points against a putrid RSL side and frankly, an embarrassing Orlando team (even if on paper, their front six when healthy is scary). Obviously the refs were poor this match. But our backline was disjointed as hell, which caused gaps all over the field. The Collin/Redding performance basically underlined to me how important that Parker trade was (and lets be honest, I know some folks think we didn't get enough back for Sacha, and gave up too much for Parker). And with how well Escobar played so far, having a trio of Parker/Long/Escobar gives me a lot of comfort.

I still think our team performance this season impresses. We are so deep (maybe Toronto has a deeper team), and we are so well organized, we will always put up a fight.

Rivas was very poor again this match. He's a big toolsy guy. I think he will figure it out with Marsch and his stats are pretty decent despite limited minutes the past seasons (https://www.american...-vs-mike-grella). I just think he needs to be more disciplined within the system and how he runs in that lone striker role. Hopefully BWP works with him a bit.

It seems Philly fans have signed up on metrofanatic to vote for themselves (in 'What team do you hate more?') . No real fan of this team would vote anything other than DC.
