That being said, he was only here from August of last year until this year and was able to bring in some quality players from Orlando's youth system.

Why are you not surprised? Genuine question. I don't know anything about the guy. But we have arguably the best academy in the country. Why fire the director?

kinda wondering about the same. what was it about Longwell that led to the "drying up" in some aspects?

We have some really talented players in some positions and he was bringing players in that played those same roles.
Meanwhile, academies around us are improving.
We have dominated for a long time, but now with the U18/19 group we sit third in our region behind Philly and Richmond. In the U16/17 group we sit 4th behind Philly, DC, and PA Classics.

I think it is simply the style of play not fitting the Red Bull style with some of the newer players that have been brought in by Longwell.

I believe DC has a residency program. I wonder if that is making a big difference. I guess a residency program could help ID foreign talent.

Could not wait until tomorrow? Or next Sunday?
We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Hope they bring in a good academy director. Maybe they'll bring in someone from one of the RB's in Europe. Synergy!! But also, the youth soccer training in Germany is top class, would be good to bring someone in.

It would be helpful if we could hold on to them.
