Decent shot of getting to MLS Cup? I see no signs pointing to that happening. Yes, anything can happen, but we cant beat anyone right now. At this point, I would be thrilled if they somehow made the playoffs and faced NYCFC...and knocked NYC out! That would salvage the season for me.We are doing a massive rope a dope

I'm interested to see how much teams will fear Red Bulls in the playoffs. Last year, Atlanta wanted to no part of the Red Bulls' press. Does anyone fear the Red Bulls like that at this point? The answer is no, and that should work in Red Bulls' favor. If teams decide they can pass against Red Bulls, then Chris Armas and co. actually have a decent shot of getting to MLS Cup. If they don't, and Red Bulls are forced to drop deeper and either counter or build from their own half, they need to get more pace on the field.
Red Bulls often get stuck in their own half because they can't cause problems in open-field transition. Josh Sims has shown moments in his first two games. If he's not the answer, I'd play the 3-3-3-1 and get Kemar Lawrence farther up the field (I'd play the 3-3-3-1 anyway)

Royer........Davis/rza..........Kaku/Fern
Lawerence.....casseres........Sims/muyl
.........Long, parker, tarek
................robles.............
No more murillo... no buckmaster... no more lade.. the only guys that should get any playing time are the folks mentioned above.
3-3-3-1
And if bwp isnt in form and white is bang3d up... then lets start kaku as a forward.

No need to start Kaku up top. Play Royer at striker. If you want to play with two strikers go with Royer and Barlow, and pray for White to get healthy.
Royer - Barlow
Muyl - Kaku - Sims
CCJ
Lawrence - Long - Parker - Murillo/Tarek
Robles

How about Murillo at striker? He knows how to flop...maybe the team could bunker down and hope for a late penalty shout to get a 1-0 win?
Ok, Chris.

I thought abt it but barrow cant finish and royer is to valuable on that wing.No need to start Kaku up top. Play Royer at striker. If you want to play with two strikers go with Royer and Barlow, and pray for White to get healthy.

Muyl - Kaku - Sims
CCJ
Lawrence - Long - Parker - Murillo/Tarek

But no more murillo and this team needs to switch to a 3-3-3-1. The RB issue needs to be resolved in the offseason.
Kaku might be odd man out if we do the switch but we need change formations to have a chance in the playoffs.
If we miss the playoffs, hamlet and armas need to get fired.if we get eliminated in the 1st round because murillo/lade/bucky does something dumb then hamlit should be fired for not finding an adequate wingback replacement.

If i'm taking out my crystal ball, i see it like this:
Away at Sounders - Loss
Away at Timbers - Tie (but maybe loss)
Home to Union - Loss (but maybe tie)
Home to DC - Win (but maybe tie)
Away to Montreal - Tie
5 points. Maybe only 3. Dancing right on top of red line, if under. The last game away against Montreal will be a fight if both teams are sitting on the line.

i think we do the 3-3-3-1 for the two west coast games, then revert to 4-2-3-1 for the east games. assuming we can scrounge up some points and make the playoffs, we then exclusively switch to 3-3-3-1 going forward

Yea clearly we need to change something. I'd like to see a back 3/back 5. Have Taxi and Murillo make overlapping runs down the line all game.

We could try to kick the ball into their hands inside the 18!

worked for former "future Metro" Roberto Baggio in the 98 WC vs Chile.

You joke, but that was an actual strategy employed this season by this team.
