#1338755 Attendance again

Posted by SatansHockey on 05 January 2019 - 10:09 AM

I can't imagine it being very different for a first timer at, say, Yankee Stadium.   Ever try driving and parking there?

I'm not a baseball fan but I think we have a way higher percentage of people in NJ who drive than people at Yankee games who drive. Obviously NJ has public transportation options but for a family of 4 on NJ transit it can be way more expensive for round trip tickets than it is to drive.

Plus we need fans to have a good experience to want to come back. All the Yankees need to do is just be good.

First timers who don't know where to park and take forever to get in and out of the area and never come back is what I think hurts our attendance more than anything else. Look at any big game that isn't the red bulls held at RBA and you see numerous complaints about traffic and parking from first timers, happens all the time.

Do you know when the rest of the schedule gets released?

It was January 4th last year so probably around the same time.

We open the season in Columbus on March 2nd at 4:30pm.

March 16th is the home opener vs San Jose, time is TBD

Crazy that Portland won't have a home game until June...

Lastly, due to renovations at Providence Park, the Portland Timbers won't play a home game until Saturday, June 1 against LAFC.

The only format which would favor us is abolishing the playoffs altogether.

I'm sure we would manage to fuck up the regular season then lol

The lack of re-seeding isn't really a huge deal since there are few 'elite' teams in each conference to begin with. There isn't much of a difference in quality between teams that finish between 4th and 7th and they probably will only be separated by a handful of points anyway. Knowing the bracket beforehand is nice.

After years of the silly away goals rule, two-legged series and a format where you might play two games in a month, this is so much better. It actually rewards the higher seeds too rather than them having to get pummeled in the road and being forced to overturn goal deficits at home.

I'd argue that DC at 4th this year was way better than Philly at 6th or Montreal at 7th.

To me, if they were truly all about rewarding regular season play there would be reseeding instead of the possibility of 1 hosting 4 while 6 hosts 7. Or even 1 hosting 4 while 2 hosts 7 first then gets to host 6. Why does the 2nd seed get to possibly host the 2 worst teams in the standings? Just because the 1 seed got a bye? It's stupid.

Is it better than it's been? Sure but no reseeding is still crap that's only meant for people who are too fucking stupid to figure out how to reseed their dumb ass gambling bracket.

No way there's re-seeding. The MLS wants people to be able to fill out their AUDI MLS Playoff Bracket #MLSPLAYOFFS #AUDISWEEPSTAKES for a chance to win a free trip to the final!!!! Its not about what makes sense. It's MLS. Its all about marketing and what makes the most money.

They still had those brackets this year and you just had to re-seed so who knows. We'll find out soon enough.

Yankee Stadium ranked 102nd out of the 107 qualifying venues in North America. 34 of the 43 outlets inspected had "High Level Violations".

Nice to see that Prudential Center is ranked 6th(highest rank in the NHL) MSG is at 31st and the newest arena around here Barclays is ranked 93rd lol

Do we know what was actually thrown? It looked like a glove. May be an unpopular opinion, but I don't mind if someone throws a glove, or a towel at him, with the way he was acting. A beer, or anything that could actually cause damage is obviously a different story though. Whatever it was completely missed him and he faked that it hit his face.

Looked like a glove from my view as well and it definitely didn't hit him. He's an absolute fucking embarrassment and the reason a lot of people hate soccer because he fits all the bad stereotypes about the game. Phony, whining, cry baby embellishing diver. The absolute fucking worst thing I hate about soccer.

Both sets of fans are pompous and annoying, but unless you are highly insecure and worry about what is being said by other people on Twitter/message boards, it doesn't matter. You aren't going to change either of those fanbases, they are what they are.

Couldn't agree more. I never read what other teams fans say so I don't give a shit about that aspect. The only one that really annoys me is nycfc because I know people who are fans of the team and I see their garbage around the city a lot. The rest of the league I could give fuck all about.

We had 3 games series earlier on, it takes too long to do those at this point now with so many teams.

I don't mind 7 in each conference since the league is adding 3 more teams over the next 2 seasons and most likely even more after that.

At least with single game knockouts you get away form the bs time wasting and garbage that happened tonight. You want home field then do well in the regular season. It works well in the USL and the games aren't boring.

Stop using the var away goal as an excuse. We had 1 shot on goal for that entire damn game. It was still 1-0 at the time. Was the var call the reason they have up 2 horrible goals when the defense fell asleep? It's ridiculous. The team just shit the bed and it is what it is.

I rarely ever have anything to say about coaches but I just don't care much for Armas. He's too rah rah rah for me. All talk but doesn't back it up.

The only thing i like from Armas interview is that he said from the open kick off were gonna empty the tank.

Should have done that in the first leg since away goals matter more in the first place.
