The New York Red Bulls have transferred 18-year-old midfielder Caden Clark to RB Leipzig of the German Bundesliga, the club announced today. Clark will remain with New York through the end of the 2021 MLS season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This blows, but he wouldn't be here without synergy in the first place.

Exactly... He's not here without Leipzig in the mix but it really sucks to see him go so quickly.

As long as we get the max in GAM then that's all that matters at this point.

It seems Philly fans have signed up on metrofanatic to vote for themselves (in 'What team do you hate more?') . No real fan of this team would vote anything other than DC.

I think having him here until the end of the season was the best we could have hoped for.

With the chunk of GAM, I would argue that the more important need is a DP level CAM.  I like Amaya a lot as an 8, but not as much higher up.  With Clark gone next year, bringing in a higher end signing during the summer at that position would be a good move heading into next year.

Definitely need to add a #10 before March 2022 regardless of whether Amaya figures it out but especially if he doesn't.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

We all knew this was coming. If the team uses the money to get players of the Klimala/Fabio/Yearwood caliber, Im fine with this.

I wonder if Salzburg wouldn't have been a better place  for him.  He'll have an American coach in Leipzig, but it will be harder for him to get minutes there.

They can always loan him, though Brendan Aaronson is occupying what I imagine would be his position. If he's joining Leipzig in the winter then it would have been his offseason in MLS, anyway. They'll probably be cool with him training and acclimating until August 2022, at which point they'll have to more seriously consider where he can get playing time.
